It's a problem because the whole idea is counter-intuative. Some people cite the reason behind online passes is to combat piracy, or to make back money "lost" to the pre-owned market.
Lets take reason one - it harms two types of customers - the preowned and the rental. Neither of which are pirates and are paying to either borrow the disc and it's associated content, or buying the disc outright (in the case of preowned). There are a lot of people out there wh...
I don't mind if I get a manual or not. The only time I look at one is if the game is particularly bad at explaining something.
I'd much rather the money and resources used to design and print game manuals was spent on improving the game itself.
@Odin: This is a competitive game, not a combat simulator. Balance is much more crucial than something simulating a real-life situation.
Saying that, I think the flashlight has the right pro's and con's, and I didn't have much difficulty killing people who were using it. Shotguns were especially effective as not much accuracy was needed.
I agree. No-one is forcing anyone to buy Dark Souls, so for that reason it's not too hard. The market is so full of casual games that it's not as if this one game is restricting causal gamers choice.
I do think the game deserves it.
Eurogamer giving out a high score? Is the world ending outside and I just haven't noticed?
Me and my friends have spent too many hours trying to work out the accent!
Your tearing me apart Freddy!
He should think about importing his character to Mortal Kombat.
It was just a light-hearted joke.
I'll take a weeks ban for three months live and 1600 MS points. Seriously though, glad Microsoft is doing the right thing for once!
Wait, CoD is considered as core?
Only the Amazon one came with the pip-boy alarm. Or so the article says.
One of the benefits of having an early Japanese release date. Seriously cannot wait for this game.
Whilst your doing 1001 different fetch quests, I'll be enjoying a challenging game with lots and lots of action. The only good thing skyrim will have over DS is the exploration component, which I could still play oblivion, fallout 3 & fallout new vegas to enjoy (as I've not fully explored those three worlds yet).
Sure but you have to keep your PS3/Xbox disconnected from PSN or XBLA. There's not a tick box that will stop people joining.
People who get Dark Souls early can level up faster than those who get it on the release day. Now you might not know this but those early players can choose to punish the release day players by invading their worlds with their higher level characters (a day can make a huge difference) and killing the release day low level characters.
As a result, release day buyers get punished for getting it on release day. Hardly seems fair, so I fully support from softwares creativity!
I like Xbox exclusives.
Edge should rename themselves to 'Troll' for the space marine and dead island review scores.
As a customer though, the preowned & rental market is good for me. It gives people an alternate way to play games without having to resort to piracy. On top of that it is much better for the environment (no pollution due to extra manufacturing/production, and no extra pollution due to transport and shipping).
The basic argument for Online Passes is "The publishers make no money from the preowned/rental market". Well thats not true because they make it from the v...
