Actually, I think this is a new era for the consoles. Now that Sony and Microsoft have finally gone x86, not only is development easier all around for all platforms, but there's a really high chance that future generations will enjoy one of the key benefits of the PC, BC.

Even if Sony or Microsoft started flipping between Intel/AMD CPUs and/or Intel/nVidia/AMD GPUs or even a totally new manufacturer, there's a pretty good chance that BC will be there as long as they ...

Yet you are so wrong. Fallout 4 is an EXCELLENT game.

Pirating a game because you "don't support a company" is like defiantly bragging "I only eat healthy food" but knock back a super sized big mac combo every day.

The game could actually be running better, digital foundry says they were running patch v1.01 and the day 1 patch is 1.1.31 so they could have already tackled some of the issues identified.

I think it's possible some people may be talking about what they have read about on digital foundry but haven't necessarily experienced themselves and that information could actually be outdated already.

I got the pc version and to be honest, this is the least buggy, best optimized game that Bethesda has ever delivered on the pc side that I can remember.

People keep on comparing fo4/bethesda to witcher 3/Cd projekt red but if I recall correctly, on console, witcher 3 launched running in the low 20s for entire sections not just intermittent drops and still isn't "solid 30fps" to this day, many months later so I really don't think it is fair.

Personally, I am happy they can patch... There was a time when any bugs that were there at launch were there for good.

I have gotten firmware updates for almost everything I own with a processor in it, my vehicle, television, receiver, bluray player, computer, printer, router, thermostat, home automation controller, phone, obviously software and even my refrigerator and I have to say, I will often get features that I didn't know I was going to get when I bought the pro...

You, my friend, need to try this on PC. The PC version, especially if you have an SSD, has minimal load times... just a few seconds.

Certainly, all those games were in some level of development for that time. Sure, maybe some of the longer times received a development reboot over the years but certainly I believe that some of the 6-7 year timelines were in active development continually.

I think the point of my comment was completely missed though so I guess I will have to explicitly spell it out.

The article talks like this game has been in development hell for decades and it talks like ...

Seriously, The kickstarter was less than 3 years ago!!!

Development cycle of other games:

Aliens: Colonial Marines - 12 years
Diablo III - 11 years
Too Human - 10 years
Spore - 8 years
Team Fortress 2 - 8 years
L.A. Noire - 7 years
Starcraft II - 7 years
Fallout 3 - 6 years
Morrowind - 6 years
Alan Wake - 6 years

Why not pick on games that have actually been in development h...

Fallout also did about 2.5m sales on steam alone.
http://steamspy.com/search....

That doesn't include sales from all the other digital outlets such as amazon, Gamersgate, Greenmangaming, Bundlestars, Gamesrocket, GOG, Origin, Getgames, Humblestore, Uplay, Gamerepublic, Direct2drive, Desura, etc

Fallout has no doubt got a bigger following...

Sorta right, H.265 aka HEVC is the codec, although it would be ideal to have hardware decoding, it could be implemented in software. They would need hardware changes to support 3/4 layer blu-rays, HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.0.

If your game is not Fallout 4, how can you get gamers to realize it even exists?

There, title fixed! lol

Wasteland 2, Shadowrun Returns, Don't Starve, FTL, Divinity Original Sin... I've bought lots of games that were crowd funded that I thought were excellent.

I wonder if anyone here honestly believes that Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo aren't watching what people are doing on their respective consoles?

Words like "connected", "live", "networked" or "online" are pretty much synonymous with "data mining", "intrusion", "breach", "infringement" and downright "spying" nowadays.

The PC market is contracting in general. We are in the middle of an ongoing global financial mess and we are seeing companies choosing to take longer periods before replacing workstations. You are definitely seeing people choosing to buy tablets and using their phones to surf the web instead of buying laptops and desktops too.

Businesses may be choosing to stretch out their upgrade times and consumers may be choosing an iPad over a new laptop, but no one is choosing betwe...
