In-game cutscenes and trailers are done in-engine by any respectable developer nowadays.
Overall, the engine actually performs better on PS3 (true full-range HDR lighting, V-sync lock) now, but the only difference (on 360) is the inclusion of SSAO, at the loss of full-range HDR lighting and introduction of noticeable screen tearing.
It's interesting how the SSAO caused the engine to lose full-range HDR and lose vsync lock. I wonder why they chose to make the engine perform worse on the 360 AND sacrifice the lighting a little bit to be able to increase the depth in so...
Ok after further research, normal Ambient Occlusion is indeed NOT used in Bionic Commando.
Screen Space Ambient Occlusion is, however.
There are some visual downgrades from AO to SSAO, but at a performance increase it seems.
I guess I was a teeny bit right about no AO because it's SSAO =P

Ambient Occlusion is not used in this game. Instead, there's a technique used like the one in Killzone 2 as well, it's really cheap and it makes it seem like there is. Shadow maps are painted around and underneath some objects objects to make it look like there's A.O.
Ambient Occlusion is a shading method meant to more realistically portray how light reflects in real life.
A.O. doesn't produce shadows, it produces lighter and darker contrast. There's a difference. <...
I don't see any reason why this shouldn't be on the PS3, I'd like to see a lovely looking Hulu logo on my PS3 XMB.
Why don't you grab a screen for me to show there is a lack of ambient occlusion on the PS3 version. I call BS.
The ONLY differences between the two versions are:
- 360 has noticable screen tearing
- Different native contrast levels between 360 and PS3
As far as texture, character model, world, effects...it's all the same down to a T.
And what you think is AO in the stills in that video is actually just lovely painted on shadow maps wit...

There is nothing wrong with any of your connections, some of yours are slower or faster than others.
As a technical showpiece, Red Faction shines. It always has and always will be ahead of its time for physics and environmental destruction.
For anything super-deep as far as story and characters go...you might want to look elsewhere.
Warhammer lore is so long winded and detailed....I don't know how something like the Horus Heresy could be told in anything short of a lengthy RPG.
Give me the Blood Angels or the Daemonhunters =)
