It's a common misconception that the 360 reads data from DVDs faster than the PS3 reads from blu-ray.
Most if not all 360 games are on dual-layer DVDs now.
That means the max read speed is at 8X.
Additionally, the 360's DVD drive changes read speed based upon where on the disk the data is located.
Also....blu-ray is CBR - constant bit rate, so no matter where the disk is being read from....data is always transferring at the same rate.

For a flying character, animations are very important to make it interesting and fun to play and watch.

Well it's not really a huge graphical leap....looks like good use of shaders + more polygons...not really revolutionary, you know.
Yeah there was some new soft-body physics debuted for Unreal Engine 3 recently, and some new lighting and stuff, but whether all of that gets implemented into Gears 2...we'll see.
Double the polygon count, huh?
Even if that was the only improvement in Gears 2, being the extreme nerd i am, the polygon doubling would be enough for me to play it.

Besides that, it's lookin pretty good.
I tried this fan test thing with my 60-gig and needless to say....not a damned difference, and I got a sore arm from holding the damned thing for 5 minutes. The fans didn't get any louder....it sounded normal, operated normally....nothing happened AT ALL.
Afterwards, I flipped my PS3 back to correct vertical position, and resumed my playing of Warhawk.
