It irrates me the way they say "analyst" instead of Patcher. If you know who exactly who the info is coming then please list his name, so that I will not have to waste 1/2 a second of my life reading news that pertains to him and what he has to say.
It wasn't even close to half actually. The N64 was stronger than top level gaming PCs when it came into the market. The only time in history that has happened with a gaming console. It cost Nintendo more than any other gen both in finance and support.
Nintendo learned from that mistake and never tried to compete by releasing the strongest, most expensive gaming console again.

The one they released on the Wii U was an inferior version that was using the old 2011 madden engine while all of the other were using the new 2012 engine.

Games don't have goals. They are inanimate objects.
Developers and companies have goals. So far, only 1 of them has shown "innovation" to be their "goal", and I do not consider time based increase in specs to be innovation. For a console to die it would have to not make profit. Nintendo is still making a small profit after all is said and done. They aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

No its not. The Wii U is not a tablet and neither is its controller. Its not meant to do what those things do, therefore it is not competing with them. The Wii U is meant to be a game system and it is competing against other game systems.
The bases for the game pad was the DS. Nintendo wanted to bring multiscreen play to its console. The original design looked almost identical to the 3DS lower screen until they decided to add analog sticks instead of a slider.
