Mielke tells it like it is! Dude's a legend. And yeah, the trailer clearly showed you didn't need motion control to play the game initially.
Actually, I heard about "Project Eden" first from Mielke's interview on the 1UP Oddcast. That was a great interview in general - he had some awesome insights into why Japanese games play the way they do, from the point of view of culture and a company's relationship with its developers, and how many developer...
I can't believe no one's talking about the Kinectimals demo. In practice, it makes sense to make a game about pets and show a kid petting the pet. Sure. But the pet was a bit too anthropomorphic. The kid said "Oh, you like that!" a bit too much. It was awkwarder than awkward.
Also, gotta love the funny and awkward mention of Canada at the Sony conference. The look on his face was priceless, and the way he said it was hilarious. Unintentionally, of co...
Okay, look. For current-gen, I have a PS3, PC, and PSP. I was thinking of maybe getting a 360 at some point, maybe if E3 was promising, but no. Not at all. The quasi-US Military sci-fi shooter shtick isn't for me, and apparently Kinect isn't for anyone over 5. Whatever.
Sony was great. The conference was full of great events, there were some cool announcements and great trailers, Kevin Butler was on fire, Gabe Newell was a surprise, and the Twisted Metal announc...
They're having one rep per company. It's pandering, and it's dumb.
Okay, the more I scan your stuff, the more that I do see something that relates. Somewhat kudos to hiding it that well :)
Here's a PS3 owner that loved the Nintendo conference, is finally thinking of getting a Wii, and is pacing like Eric Cartman before he froze himself, waiting for the 3DS. "Come ooooon!!!"
I have no clue what you're talking about in your comments, though. I don't get the "fake 3D" thing, but whatever floats your boat, man. Vent your weird frustration about nonexistent problems. I'll chalk it up you not quite being able to grasp the Engli...
I'm sure it does look much better in person, but by looking at this video, I get the point of why this is awesome. You at least get the gist of it. I can't wait.
Yeah. Unless those MGS screens are mockups and not the real deal, the processing power would have to be a bit beyond that of a Dreamcast.
Well... maybe they're just talking about the ARM processor, and not the GPU. Idunno. Some of the games looked a little less advanced, like that shot of Ridge Racer, but a lot of these look like they're at least PS2 quality.
His facial expression while describing Canada was priceless. That may have been the unintentionally funniest thing at E3. Aside from whatever that Kinect pre-E3 circus was.
Gundemonium!
Okay, well FF9 also. But seriously, check out the Gundemonium doujin shooters if you want a challenge. They're weird, they're cute, and they'll kick you in the face like hardly anything you've ever played. Awesome.
I could see other gamers' points in liking each conference. For example, business and general press (not the gaming press) would be impressed by Microsoft's outreach to people that were even timid about buying a Wii. Baby-ish kids, mothers, it's for them, and they spend money (or force someone else to spend money). Good for Wall Street, really. The lack of a price on Kinect was awful, though. Casuals will not buy an over-the-friggin'-line expensive system. And if you'...
Yeah, what he's talking about is making the game more easy-to-use, especially in the water temple, with a way to access items. They're not making it easier in gameplay difficulty, as far as this article is concerned. They're getting rid of an annoying mechanic that should have been more user-friendly than it was. We forgive them. It was a long time ago, and the game was awesome.
Huh. Once again, I'm left confounded that Nintendo had such a game-loaded conference that I forgot about Pikmin 3. I loved the other two. Cannot wait for this one.
I think they did some neat tricks to it. They're not making it a full-stop graphical overhaul, but this will tide everyone over for the first actual 3DS Zelda, introduce new gamers to this awesome game... I'm excited. Let's hope the framerate gets a bit improved too!
Nintendo is back in a huge way. I really didn't see it coming, but lo and behold, they were so loaded with good games that a 3D Ocarina of Time announcement was left out of the conference. I'm friggin' impressed. Something about the casual market must have driven them back toward their core this time around.
Well, hello there Nintendo! It's been years. Nice to see you on our planet again!
The Kevin Butler campaign is just awesome for the gaming advertisement world. The ads, including even his social networking stuff, are humorous and well-written. Sometimes stuff's tongue-in-cheek, sometimes it's just hilarious.
The great thing is that this campaign isn't just geared toward kids with a very short attention span. Remember the ads for Nintendo Power that bordered on seizure-inducing, featuring kids' heads exploding? Yeah, none of that. As th...
It's a tough argument to make in this article, but it's also tough not to find some implied bias in everything after that. The whole press audience got Oprah'd.
I really don't get why people think this article is overtly biased either way. It's a professionally-written article about the pros and cons, and it reflects my impressions of what's happened over the past couple days.
Pros: They say that the kiddies who like shaking a Wii remote around won't mind latency, and neither will casuals who just want yet another way to exercise in their own house. They're saying it's a good business decision, and that has ...
Yup. Both surprised and alarmed about that little avoidance. Are they just trying to avoid making the "Worst announcements of E3" lists alongside the PSPGo pricing announcement last year?
Hey press guys, come dance with us and watch a circus! See the robotic elephant! Watch a kid act like he's using Kinect but he's not doing what's on screen! Come back tomorrow! Watch us brag about Kinect forever and give core gamers no reason to buy it! Cool huh?...
So I don't understand, IGN. Child of Eden is a 360 game, and not a PS3 game? Or is it because the PS3 version wasn't being demoed? Because Kotaku has it as both in multiple articles, like this one: http://kotaku.com/5566676/c...
I get it if it wasn't being demoed, but that threw me for a loop at first.
And Rage being number one? Interesting. They must be talki...
