I've probably said more than once that many gamers are "dumb" for not caring about some of the best gaming experiences of the previous generation, but that's more out of spite. I wanted Rez, JSRF, and Panzer Dragoon Orta to succeed in order to see more development and freedom from those great creators. It didn't happen.

We don't typically invest much in the latest artistic breakthrough. Movements always start small and are then assimilated into bigger, more profitabl...

I love how your comment ends in "Edge!" Perfect pun.

But I don't think that's what Hoops is saying, because Sony's a great example of a company implementing a restructuring process that has worked wonders. If you look at their strategic design, they've moved to a company of siloed divisions working on their own features to including cross-communication and integration between groups. Kaz Hirai is one of the big facilitators in that move. His job is basically to bridg...

Tough thing about it is that this restructuring is, in fact, restructuring. No beating around the bush about firing some lunkheads or "insubordination," these were people that did what Sega told them to do, and it didn't work out because Sega lost money over some awful decision-making up top. That sucks.

The refocusing on downloadable, smaller titles makes sense. For a while, I wanted to just pick up Yakuza 3 for the pick-up-and-play awesomeness that was Boxcelios. ...

Well... yes, I understand why someone would think the ending wasn't the best, and there's a good reason for why GOWIII ends the way it does. Cory Barlog left the team, he had an ending where pretty much everyone died, but no - the rest of the writing was left to Stig Asmussen. Now, the guy can create one heck of a game, but the whole "hope" thing that, IMO, went against quite a bit of the franchise's canon, was really Stig's idea. Check it out for yourself:
Even if you think you're totally secure, you still don't represent your company to any group of people and then start characterizing your executives as short-sighted or closed-minded. The comment started classy, but it wound up being a...

Enough said.

Once again, HHG, I'm really pleased with how you did your headline. You at least put a question mark after the questionable rumor. That means you're not stating it as fact, you're just bringing up the concept in a "Hey, what if this happened?" fashion. That's fine by me!

Keep that stuff up, and I won't complain. Not that it matters, hehe.

Wow. This is what businesses call "synergy." People will play the game because Gackt is in it, and people will know who Gackt is because they played the game.

I knew nothing about that game, though. "Dragon Nest" sounds like a Monster Hunter me-too, but that's just the title. Here's an IGN impressions article from November, since this article didn't link to anything about it: http://p...

Maybe the colors are a bit different, but it's really not a noticeable thing. It's going to be good for either system - we've seen it in motion, and it's running very well. The big thing isn't the graphics anyway - Capcom has had quite a bit of time with their graphics engine by now - it's the online play.

I hope that Capcom's netcode and online features this time around are as good as we've been hearing. I'd much rather get schooled by every gamer on the planet in a good on...

I'm right with you on thinking a 6 remake would be a great idea. It could spell the first real synergy of classic art styles and next-gen graphics - I would love to see the Hieronymous Bosch leading to Kefka in some sort of moving 3D glory.

However, in your comment toward the 7 universe game about not having a 20 hour tutorial, are you referring to XIII? Just asking, because 7 had that. It was called Midgar, and it opened up into the world map after one heck of a long time. T...

Right there with you and dreaming of an HD Einhander. The original was just friggin' life-changing for me! It's up there with finally finding out what the Q Games/Ubisoft Project Eden is all about. If it still exists. Or ZOE3.

Hopefully this case will go through and wake up corporate giants, including Microsoft and the other linked companies, that are sleeping on their outsourcing oversight responsibilities.

If you're really going to rip jobs away from your company's country of origin in favor of cheap labor, the least you can do is make sure that the cheap labor doesn't turn into sweatshop labor. If you're going to save that much money based on currency differences, tax breaks, and different labor la...

Santiago has a vested interest in games as art, since she needs to promote ThatGameCompany's work, often depicted as "artistic." Ebert has a long-term vested interest in movies not being overtaken by games, especially now when games are closing the revenue gap with box-office hits.

It's nice to hear their opinions, but neither of these is a source I'd recommend when talking about the subject. I think that Santiago is nearing a good point in that it's still a feat to j...

So you clarify bad rumors from the big guys with an official letter or an executive phone call... and you clarify bad rumors from HHG with a Twitter post. There's something hilariously awesome about that.

First off, three words. Cathode Ray Tube.

Not only is she just plain wrong on the graphics (of course an HD TV is going to make your old games look bad, the systems were not made for an HD TV! They'll look awful on one! That's why stuff is upscaled in the emulation scene such as VC or PS Store), but she's missing the point. It's all about the game's mechanics, rule set, simplicity or level of complexity, level of human ingenuity put into it (or "gameplay"). It's all...

Nice opinion paper there, GamesThirst, but I suggest you proofread your articles with more than just a spellcheck. Modern Warfare 2 didn't get 550 million 5 days after being "refused." Maybe you typed "refeased" or something.

Then there's this awesome not-even-quite-Yoda sentence: "It’s not looking good, Infinity Ward’s future is not."

Earning your respect? What? You can tell that these guys didn't read the actual article.

They're talking about respect from their supervising company, which is a perfectly okay thing to ask for, if a bit vague. Throwing the "respect" word out there is more about promoting intellectual property ownership rights across the industry. They're trying to imply to both big company CEO's and game creators that IP ownership rights in contracts are a matter of respect, all th...

That's a really cool story. I don't know if this was just a strange coincidence, but I remember looking up stuff on the history of Sealand not long after I beat that game. Yeah, it is a coincidence, but I do always think a bit about Sealand when I play the game. Just a little. Outer Heaven and Sealand are pretty much the only oceanic man-made structures I've ever heard of that completely formed an independent nation - one fiction and one reality.

...Days? With Ahnold? "You're a f*ing choir boy compared to me. A choir boy!!!!"

No, you have a great game to fit that title, even if it's a bit of a restrictive award. We could say the same about the first Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy VI, Super Mario Bros. 3, or even MGS2 and we'd all have good reasons why that was the best game ever.

I have way too many "best game ever" candidates. Those guys up there, along with my icon, Demon's Souls, Dra...

Never mind - apparently the CEO does the same thing, as today's news has shown. Ugh. Maybe they're all chimpanzees.
