Halo 3 helped boost XBOX 360 sales back in September of 2007, but Halo hasn't been a factor since then.
What PS3 needs is a price drop.
Blu ray isn't being wanted by game consumers. People who buy video games, don't care about blu ray. They care about games.
That's why XBOX 360 is dominating, because it provides all the games at the price people want to pay.
PS3 is forcing and charging gamers for something they don't care about. That's why PS3 is getting thrashed.
I don't care about 130% increase over Christmas, or whatever the hell that means. That's BS!!
What I know is that XBOX 360 sold probably 1 million and a half in December and PS3 Sold 600 thousand. That's the problem, so the PS3 is getting thrashed.
If you want to look at it glass half full, that's cool. But PS3 is getting trashed by the competition and that's a fact.
EGM had fallen down anyway. Magazine issues were getting shorter and shorter and most of the editors had become fanboys.
This console war is taking it's toll even on the gaming media. We've already seen controversy in other gaming websites. I know people will say that the issue of fanboyism and this with 1up have nothing in common, but in a way I feel it does. It's all connected.
The problem with PS3 has always been that it's charging people a lot more for a multi media device, when all gamers want is a gaming console.
Until Sony corrects this problem, the PS3 sales will lag behind and the media will have negative things to say about it.
It was sh*tty PS3 sales that caused the media to talk negative about it, it wasn't the negative media that led to sh*tty PS3 sales.

The sales say it all. PS3 costs too much more than the competition and they're getting left behind. This is the real problem, not what fanboys have to say. End of Story.

They already took a huge blow during the holidays. Maybe it's too late already.
They also need a low end sku to counter the 360 arcade system.
They just have so much catching up to do. With the way they just sat back and watched PS3 get disemboweled this holiday, I'm doubting Sony has this much fight in them.

How many times do I have to say it? Sony shot themselves in the foot when they decides to price themselves so much higher than the competition for features that have little to do with gaming. Like Blu ray.
I though Sony had learned their lesson, but when XBOX 360 got a price cut and Sony didn't answer it really raised my eye brow. And now, I'm starting to wonder if maybe Sony is indeed planning to throw in the towel.
I just saw that preview of Killzone 2 from games radar, them complaining it's too gamey, that the events are triggered by you reaching a certain point.

I agree that the media is basied, I just played Gears of War 2 and god it looks and feeling just like the first one, nothing new at all and it got tiring right away, yet reviews of 9.5 or 10? WTF? It's pretty sad.

In December my NPD prediction is XBOX 360 14-15k, PS3 5-6k.

And Sony 2 years later is still hoping that Blu ray takes off, and makes PS3 cool and people start buying it like crazy. And it's just not gonna happen...
Sometimes the boxart makes itself. That's basicly one of the most common pictures of Killzone 2 I've seen, I've had that picture on my PS3 background theme before. That same helmet, I've seen it plenty of times before. So good thing they made it the box art. I think they got it right.
I think it's pathetic that people take away my bubbles for saying the truth. I guess I hurt the feelings of PS3 fans, I don't know.
But I'll be honest, Blu ray seems to be catching on, it's made it further than the formats that fail, so I think blu ray will probably be okay because it's made it this far.
And I think Blu ray succeeding makes the PS3 cool to the mainstream and that will make a difference.
But... the fact will "always" remai...
All PS3 could do was kick start Blu ray, but for Blu ray to go mainstream it has to be with stand alone players. Blu ray goes beyond just the PS3.
On that same token, I think Blu ray being more mainstream makes the PS3 cooler to people, but I don't think that blu ray alone is enough for PS3. to compete in the video game department, Sony has to price the thing competitively because I still think video games consoles are purchased by people who care about video games not HD movie...
