It doesn't need to be that way, it could be a great holiday. They have a pretty solid lineup of games and features for everyone.
The only problem is the price.
And I don't want to hear that about PS3 is worth is because it also has a blu ray player. Sales charts have shown that game consoles are purchased by gamers who are looking for games not Blu ray players.

XBOX 360's games are ranked higher than PS3's.
Gear of War 2 and Fable 2 are ahead of Resistance 2 and Little Big Planet.
Also, where's Valkyria Chronicles? I though the demo was good. Why are people overlooking that game?

it doesn't look that bad. There's only so much you can tell from a screen shot. But you're already saying it looks like total garbage and it doesn't.
Could it use more work? Sure. The game is probably still a year off.
But I'm kind of interested because it does look like a Japanese take on Gears of War and I've never seen that before.
If they burrow a lot from the movement and covering system of Gears of War, it's not too hard to make a decent game...
But right now I'm branding this game Gears of War meets Final Fantasy X.
If it delivers I think I have a new favorite game.
That's what it looks like to me at first glance a big buff dude holding a gun like in Gears of War but the art is more like a Japanese RPG.
Like a shooter but with RPG like art.
Usually most shooters go for the rough and tough style, you don't see too many shooters with characters looking like Castlevania or Final Fantasy all dramatic.
Seriously, from those screen shots it looks like Gears of War meets Final Fantasy or something. That's pretty cool
But still it's too early to know if it's a quality game or not.

360 has some wanted games in Japan this holiday and a much lower price.
PS3 has nothing and it seems like Sony is doing nothing but letting 360 go on it's audition to impress Square enough to get FFXIII.
Sony is who knows, not worrying. They will try to act surprised when the announcement comes in 2009 that the game is releasing simultaneous on both consoles in Japan.
And then Japan will also be lost for PS3. How disappointed is that? After PS3 sur...

If Sony doesn't wake up soon, anything can happen. I'm already very worried whats gonna happen in Europe and North American with the prices the way they stand right now.
Microsoft is pulling all the stops in Japan, price cutting and spending all sorts of money to get all these RPG's like:

Tales of Vesperia
Infinite Undiscovery
The result is 360 outselling PS3 by 1k a week.
The idea that 360 is suddenly taking over Japan is so blown out of proportion.
And by the way, if Microsoft could get FFXIII in Japan, obviously they would. But it was the only gam...
Could that really be the official box art? I doubt it, since it says Biohazard not Resident Evil. Maybe the European box.
No stellar new games announced for either side.
That being said, no doubt XBOX 360 has been pushing a lot harder in Japan with all that money they're paying to bring exclusive or timed exclusive JRPG's to XBOX 360.

could be a game that has long legs and turns out to be a commercial success that does help move some PS3's during the holiday.
This game isn't as much for the hardcore as GTA or Halo who will sell most of it's copies in the first day because fanboys have been waiting for years for their sequel.
But I still think the PS3 needs a price drop to compete with XBOX 360. This holiday. 1 game isn't enough. Halo 3 wasn't enough, MGS4 wasn't enough. Those games boost sale...
