I played Hogwarts Legacy, and while I'm enjoying it, there are a ton of fetch quests, collectables, and things that are just blatant rehashes of the movie.

They really nailed the combat, though. It feels really fun to sling magic around.

If you read the rest of that review they explain it.

You can't dodge enemies out of the FoV and many enemies have 1 hit kills which leads to repeated dying in large groups.

Now yes you could say "well duh thats realistic" but come on. Your fighting alien zombies on Jupiter's moon. Realism went out the window hours ago.

Because the dodge mechanic requires your enemy to be in your FOV and the narrow FOV makes that difficult

The gameplay looks fun but the constant quipping and bland voice work are a hard no from me.

I'll wait for reviews

@SenorFartCushion

Have you seen the Economy right now? No one is playing chicken with their salary.

It's two separate headlines crushed together.

Dice is "only focused in B2042" and they're really sad that people didn't like their shit version of a game.

@Ray J

MGSV wasn't a great Metal Gear but it was far from a disgrace.

I just recently started playing it again after 7 years and was blown away by it's visuals and world design.

"Sniper Mantis"

Did I miss a boss fight?

"An increasingly stale Series"?

So stale that it sells millions of copies every release.

Look you can thing Fallout 4 was garbage and Fallout 76 was a disaster but the series certainly isn't stale.

Microsoft allows this and still makes a killing off Gamepass Ultimate.

The majority of people probably either don't know or aren't going to bother trying to figure out how to do something like this

Played the game and beat it on both stories. It was fun overall, but I really feel like things started to drag in the last 4th of the game. The combat was good but it became too much of a good thing. Stop throwing fights of nothing but damage sponge enemies at me.

It became. Big fight -> save point to heal -> big fight -> save point -> big fight etc....

4 Million "downloads" doesn't mean 4 Million plays, and it certainly doesn't mean 4 Million sales.

Give me something free and I'll add it to my library. Doesn't mean I'm every going to play it.

It's the same argument people use against piracy.

1 Download =\= 1 Sale. More likely for every 10 people that download maybe 1 of those would actually purchase. Although for a game with as dated of a premise and core gameplay loop as oddworld I'd guess that's probably closer to 1 sale out of every 1000 downloads.

The same way Bioware, Bethesda, Bungie, and CD Projekt Red were.

Just because someone worked for a successful developer doesn't mean you were the reason they were successful.

For all we know the people who stuck around were programmers who had nothing to do with the overall vision. They could be the best programmers in the world but if the creative director takes the game in the wrong direction then it doesn't matter.

So it's just a streamlined pricing for PS+ and PSNow. Rather than buying 2 separate services you can now get both but bundled.

I take it you weren't around when the original Xbox launched. Microsoft lost huge amounts of money supporting that in an effort to get into the gaming market, and now they are.

Also Microsoft certainly didn't pull out of Zune and Windows phones fast. Both those products were supported for years.

Giant companies like Google and Microsoft are generally willing to take a short loss for long term gains.

Their business model is actually fairly straightforward. Buy the game and play it. Want extra stuff subscribe to pro.

The problem is that Google went against the norms of cloud services. Gamepass is monthly fee for all you can play, PSNow is the same. Same with other streaming services like Netflix and Spotify.

So people thought that was the model of Stadia and then when Google started talking about buying games people thought you'd have to pay to pla...

They're Linux version, which unfortunately aren't universally supported. This was a well discussed potential issue long before Stadia launched but Google decided they were going to use Linux anyways (likely so that they don't have to pay licensing costs to run Windows VMs).

"a rush of ‘me too’ titles. The likes of Lords of the Fallen, Remnant: From the Ashes, The Surge and more recently Mortal Shell"

Has the author played Remnant: From the Ashes? It's nothing like a SoulsBourne game.

Right now the only thing Bungie has is Destiny. Maybe they'll release something else but right now it's just Destiny and has only been Destiny for the last several years
