Current bet among fans seems to be April 1st as wither announcement for a future beta (around May 1st) or the actual beta start.

Well, the whole point of that screenshot was to show that a new box popped up on the main page, with a beta invitation.

Well, considering that the opt-ins are still active, and that it seems the BlizzCon signups started for real, It's not really a biggie the actual opt-in signups have not started...

I'm personally more interested in the actual gameplay, but you are of course right that the voice acting definitely makes the game even more deep!

As for the avatar, it's indeed a piece of Diablo 3 artwork. Can't find it atm. Some NPC or monster, I think it's not known what it is yet.
