When was the last time a significant new feature was added to PS2, though? They're implementing two new (and significant) features for PS3 this year!
I think the idea is more that they keep rolling new features into PS3 instead of saving those new features for next-gen. PSN Day 1 Digital, Cross-Play/Cross-Buy, etc. All of this could have waited for next-gen if they were really serious about bringing out a new system soon.
Either they're still waiting on something, or they're being completely reactionary against Nintendo. My guess is both.
Probably, but then we thought Nintendo had nothing left after E3 also.
I'd like them to make at least one game that sells beyond a very small demographic (see reason #4). Otherwise, yeah, I'd be pretty fine with them sticking to their niche.
Mario Chase alone (when I played it at E3 2011 in its original demo form) sold the system to me. Glad to see someone else appreciates it!
ZombiU actually does have some dimensions of online multiplayer. From the official site: "MERCY KILLER – When your character gets infected, your online friends are alerted of your death and can come and hunt down your zombified character to loot the gear in your BOB and put you out of your misery!"
While it's not really competitive play or true co-op play, they're at least trying to make your connections to other players have SOME bearing on your experience....
Personally, I think it's an insult to call the Nintendo Land attractions "tech demos." Heck, I think it's an insult to call them mini-games - just like it would have been an insult to call the arcade games ported to NES tech demos or mini-games.
Because Sega has no money?
The sad thing is, the boycott still involves actually playing it.
According to Sega, Bayonetta had 1.35m lifetime sales by the end of FY2011. I wouldn't say that's "barely any units sold," but you're right in saying that the fanbase is hardly large enough for the negative minority to mean anything.
There are already a good half-dozen scheduled for the first few months. That's not bad.
Or, you know, David Hayter, who already does Snake's voice and looks pretty much like him anyway.
Nintendo doesn't usually heavily participate in TGS, but they do tend to draw attention to themselves around that time, especially with new hardware on the horizon.
Nintendo's usually fairly meticulous about timing their exposure, so I'm hoping the specific date GameStop was given for this actually winds up amounting to something. Great work; much more interesting than just picking up a snapshot of some boxes.
A lot of people die against the OCTOROKS in the original Legend of Zelda. It's not because they're hard on their own; it's because the game knows how to set them up so that they can kill you anyway (by throwing numbers at you in increasingly narrow spaces). This kind of scaled difficulty doesn't really exist in the recent games, though.
I'm curious how a remake of a DS game WOULDN'T benefit from having a touch screen.

Why should I have to go out of my way to be challenged by a game?
Totally agree - I am just a little skeptical that if a large number of people walk away thinking they'd rather just play with the Pro Controller, they won't even bother going for third-party stuff on Wii U, instead opting for PS3 or 360 versions instead.
Otherwise, "multiple control options" is definitely amazing on principle. I can see a lot of people preferring motion controls or GamePad for some games but the Pro Controller for others, but giving them th...
Lack of differentiation between current and future systems?
Speedy obsolescence of these features?
Although, I think it might be true that their plan could have something to do with prolonging PS3 via Cross-Buy Vita games while "new" console projects get shifted to PS4.
