All sounds reasonable. One area they could differ I guess is in their adoption of ray tracing, with Microsoft having confirmed hardware acceleration but Sony so far remaining vague there.
Whatever happens, it will be interesting to see if Phil Spencer's promise, the Xbox would always have the most powerful console, can be kept.
Both designs will be pretty much final by now, so we will probably find out soon.
Personal opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if both specs were identical with only minor in house customisation separating them.
Same thing happens every time next gen nears. Devs aren't allowed to show their pretty next gen versions of games so they opt for cgi over current gen gameplay, which they feel doesnt properly showcase their game.
Google stadia is going to be a tough sell.
Who are these people expected to pay a premium to become founders for promises that havent even been proven. 4k hdr 60fps is the promise but where is the proof of concept? Where were the 4k demos at e3, the biggest event happening befoe their launch window?
And they expect these people to pay for this upfront with no option of a free test?
On your bike Google.
Yay!
Is this confirmed for Game pass at launch?
Picked one up today for 299.
A strange coincidence that every publisher was showing pre rendered trailers this year. It's like they are reluctant to show current gen gameplay.
As a studio, you have two versions of your game, one looks fine but the other one looks magnificent, but you're not allowed to show next gen gameplay - yet.
I think this is where we're at this e3.
399 would make the xb1x launch price very stingy in retrospect.
Good for them.
I think it's more to do with how each game has been a significant step up from the previous one.
Maybe we won't get that same leap from Witcher 3 to Cyberpunk but I'm still hopeful for a special game.
Cringe. But it was a pointless and creepy question.
Agree. Xbox was what I looked forward to most but Nintendo ended up impressing me the most. There's some serious love for the Switch in studios around the world it seems.
What about streaming is it that gives you that impression. Having played ps4 on the cloud with ps now I can't really tell much difference to native ps4. That only at 1080p admittedly.
Yeah I get that. It's a fabulous strategy really.
You can remote play ps4 on vita over the internet. Doesn't work very though Imo.
Assuming this is true and it really worked consistently in real world, then I want to know why I should buy a Scarlett?
With Xcloud I can stream my library of Scarlett titles, without owning the machine, in 4k with full fidelity? I save a bundle not having to buy the console. I don't even have to pay directly for Scarlett games because most will be on covered by my game pass ultimate sub.
It's looking like Xcloud and a ps5 for me next gen.
It was pretty ropey though for most. The wifi on vita always sucked, something I expected them to fix when they released the slim, but they didn't.
You'll say you never had a problem with it but if that's the case you're lucky. I'd get connection lost constantly, even connected directly with ps4 in the same room.
99% agree but Rare has hit jackpot for them with sea of thieves. Can't stand it personally but many do.
Microsoft aren't.... well yes they are a little stupid, but they understand that millions of gamers still love the joy of owning a console. They will support that and have actually promised to always have the most powerful hardware. 😐
