Phil Spencer is no Don Mattrick. Everything Spencer has done has been for the consumer so far and there's no reason to believe his stance will suddenly change.
The high price, I feel is one of the reasons they keep barking about it being ok to stay on xb1 for a while. Don't wanna lose those customers (of which they'll be many) who balk at the series x price.
My personal hope is that my xb1x remains next gen relevant at 1080p for at least a transition year.
Didn't gamestop and Amazon both say they'd not stock titles by publishers that undercut or even matched prices of physical media with digital games?
I.e if Sony sold last of us 2 for £25 digital, Amazon and gamestop wouldn't stock the disc version.

@Logicwins When making the game the devs will be shackled in what they can achieve by older.
Example - chief theoretically has a pair of ai controlled robots at his command that employ a new kind of A.I developed by next gen. It gets axed by Microsoft because the Xbox one can't handle it.
It's not hard to imagine that or a similar scenario.
It's not. But it kinda is. I think they think it isn't but they're pitching it like it is.
Only an Xbox one style reveal can derail ps5 dominance now imo.
The only thing to go on is Sony commenting that they believe in and value different console generation and the clean break from what comes before.
Playing Xbox on my phone while the wife's binging the father Brown tv series is a gift of BLISS from the gods.
It works. That's the only magic it needs.
That and Microsoft aren't forcing it on anybody or pitching it as the future of gaming. It's just there if you want it.
