I think developers run the risk of trying too hard to please people who are looking for the whole next-gen look (btw, it's now current gen) and forgetting what games are supposed to be...fun. If I want amazing visual stimulation, I'll watch a Blu-Ray / HD-DVD movie. If a game is fun, then fine, make it look good. But I think some developers might think that it's ok to have bad gameplay if it looks good.
