I think is going to rock COD more than people expect it to. Alot of people don't like the slower paced route they've taken COD (I like both the slower and the more fast arcade style of COD) and liked the more fast paced arcade shooters that COD had abandoned with focus shifting to BR and DMZ, BR of which is universally disliked compared to the first WZ.

I still play CoD every season and you are apart of the problem and anyone else who buys it. COD is in a rough state right now but you still throwing money at them. JackB, You must be talking PvE because PvP, especially unofficial is thriving. This isn't a dig at your beloved Xbox but facts are facts. There's not many people playing ARK on Xbox which surprised me when I bought an Xbox that there were so few people playing it there. I know Xbox player base is tiny in comparison to PC and PS but the servers were dead dead
Game pass isn't the answer to everything. Ark Survival Evolved is a game that has sold 35 million copies and is free on GP but on Xbox, both official and unofficial servers are dead yet on PC and PS, it's thriving (I love the game and it done have cross play so play it on any system)
I can say I've played the mode less than 25 times but I've only ever had one memorable fight with another team that lasted quite a while and was fun. The rest of the time I find it quite boring personally.
I have heard that the since the season 2 reset there's a lot more missions which encourage PvP so maybe I should give it a try again.
Is it? The mode is mind numbing. To many bots, map to big and not enough PvP.
The Hunt Showdown is still the best Extraction shooter but I can understand why not everyone would agree with me there
I'm not sure if you played the mode or not but The Division had a Dark zone in which you had to go in, grab your supplies and extract with other players and NPCs much like EFT before EFT had even released. It always had a element of an extraction shooter before the genre was even really given its name
Ubi have fallen from grace but with the state of CoD right now and the backlash it's getting from casuals and even it's most loyal content creators, now is best time for any company to try and make a COD rival. People are even flocking to a Roblox creation that's a knock off of COD. It's got that bad and I'm one of those who still plays CoD
The concept of Meet Your Maker is amazing but it's awful art direction and lack of variety in Traps is pretty bad. I'm hoping someone else takes that concept and pushes it further
@petebloodyonion, the difference between 1080p and 4K is huge when playing on a TV? Alot of games drop resolution to 1080p (your TV will say it's native resolution most of the time) to achieve 120fps and the difference is massive in image sharpness and clarity.
Starfield will sadly win GOTY because gamers and journos all praise slightly above average games filled with bugs, bad voice acting, and laughable animations that every other games get scrutinized for.

This is DLC. Whilst the game is great looking, it's not suddenly going to look and feel much different to how it does now on the PS5 because the engine and code was made to be downscaled to PS4. Until the PS4 is completely dropped and games are developed from the ground up on PS5, we are going to have restraints.

Start mission, go here, clear this camp/area, kill this person, collect this, throw in random encounter annoyances, repeat. This gameplay loop applies to 90% of open world games. It's so boring because they are so similar. It all feels a bit box tickish.
I also miss large scale set pieces in games such as uncharted and you don't really see that in open world games.

Check out the DF video on WZ2 and MW2. The original Xbox One and base PS4 struggles with performance. It wouldn't be a simple case of lowering the resolution as they do that now and it's still hitting below 40fps on XBone and the base PS4, let alone a handheld console that can't even play it's exclusives without technical issues these days.
I've tried so many times for it to 'click' with me but I can't look past the terrible animations, the awful voice acting, dated graphics (they were dated on release). This game is a solid 6 but because it says Bethesda on the front it got 10s. If it was any other games it would get slaughtered in the reviews.
