I'm pretty sure if Sony threw bucketfulls of money at Valve, a la Guerilla - that they'd manage a PS3 port. You could just as well ask why those guys don't release PC ports.

That said, I'd probably have even more respect for Valve had they just said, "Sony will need to pay us x amount for a port".

The "lazy devs" argument that I refuted above, and yet still repeated ad infinitum by guys like RememberThe357. Take a look at all the content upd...

"Too Complicated = Too Lazy to learn".

No, "too complicated = too complicated". It's not laziness, the developers and designers are hard at work every f-cking day. Their priorities just happen to be different to your none-working, none-developing ones.

"Them just attempting to develop a PS3 game will introduce them to the future of developing."

Really? The "future of developing" is some weird bespoke cell ...

Well done America, guns are great, but representations sex, even consensual sex between adults is borderline illegal.

The ESRB should really do something about it, and start using a rating system that wasn't put together by some conservative nut-jobs.

But they're too weak, and no politician is ever going to touch it. It's not exactly a populist subject, is it.

Get with the f-cking program.

The technology is already here, and services like Steam have shown us that a digital only platform can bring benefits to the consumer as well.

Not only is the cost of distribution near-zero, the catalogue is infinite, and developers can cut out an entire level of middlemen. Digital distribution allows for all sorts of pricing flexibility, it allows for package deals and free weekends.

Why is it that indie games have g...

You're an idiot.

This guy has never worked for Nintendo, and instead produced some interesting demos in his own time using the Wiimote.

That, and Natal is a completely different technology to the Wiimote would render your point invalid anyway.

Valve fans are complaining. Those that expected the same level of support for L4D as they've shown TF2 and other previous releases.

I doubt the 360 guys care at all, I have a sneaky suspicion, that Valve have had to force a sequel because of the ridiculous 360 update process. (see TF2 console updates)

I bought L4D on its release, and it was great. But I also bought it knowing that it lacked content, and giving Valve the benefit of the doubt regarding updates (as they have done for every other product of theirs).

For me, that hasn't happened with L4D, especially when compared with the vast amounts of love they've piled onto TF2. (The Sniper vs Spy update was awesome, hell, Meet the Spy alone was awesome)

But I'm not boycotting L4D2 or anything. That's rash and l...

The cell is very capable in some specific tasks, video encoding is one of them.

Surely, this isn't new right? We've always known that the cell can do some tasks extremely well - take folding for example, but these tasks do not equate to quality games.

Toshiba have included cell chips in various PCs for this very reason. There are some tasks that the cell is better than an i7 at, but for every one of those, there are going to be even more the other way around.

It's as simple as that.

Studios are well versed in the engine, Epic provide excellent support, great tools, and it has become a standard. Studios can cut out costly engine development, focus on design, and hit both HD consoles.

If you don't like UE3, then there's nothing you can really do about it but wait for the competition to arrive. With CryEngine 3 and idTech 5 up and coming, it'll keep engine development at the forefront and stop any complacency from settling...

I've never liked them, and the half baked show as little as possible hype machine.

The coverage surrounding such releases is starting to get more skeptical, cynical and negative, which hopefully will lead us away from these bullshit countdown upon countdowns and clueless speculation.

Still, we all know things happens in cycles.

QuackPot, you're right. But Uncharted aims at a higher level of action than the Tomb Raider series, and there are significant amounts of gunplay. If you're going to do it, then do it well.

The video is almost devoid of atmosphere, the whole set up is static, aside from a few scripted sequences.

Compare the peashooter gun sounds to the roar of the AK in Counter-Strike. At any point, did the gameplay look genuinely exciting? Was it on edge? Would the player charac...

You know how the level shown has been decimated by some war?

I'd much rather be taking part in that war, than the clean up mission afterwards.

That is, I prefer the chaos and brutality of games such as Killzone 2 and Call of Duty 4 over this any day. I value atmosphere a lot more than graphical fidelity. The video just left me cold, the action was sterile, the whole thing looked static.

This is just personal preference of course, it's obvious that they...

Didn't know it was a 360 game, but Googling shows that it was. I can't seem to edit the type after approval though.

I was quietly looking forward to this, not many games are set in contemporary urban Paris. I hope it doesn't die, although in this economic climate, I can see developers shying away from risky projects.

You have a really naive understanding regarding the nature of reviews.

If you think that reviews are or have ever tried to be a pure objective standard, then you're very wrong. Your comment "reviewer is letting his personal opinion of the game influence his review" is laughably off base. How can personal opinion not influence a review? A review is an opinion piece!

You see Metacritic as an unmovable paragon of objectivity. False. It can, and is frequen...

UE3 and the Killzone engine are completely different things.

Why bring up the Killzone engine when it's not available for third parties. They don't even compete.

UE3 is about flexibility and cross platform performance. It's about having the tools and support in place so you don't have to bother with an engine team.

The Killzone engine does Killzone 2 very nicely, and that's it. Hopefully, with CryEngine 3 and Rage though, we'll see some real competiti...
