My position on DD has changed a bit since reading this article. However, I still question at how fast they can implement this new tech? Not to mention the cost of laying fiber-optics and the charge that will trickle down to the consumer?
Example:
For an average every day consumer:
1. pay $39.99 for high-speed internet now or
2. pay "X" + $39.99 for the uber-high-speed "grid" when available?
The "X" is what concerns me.......

Why on earth did MS support HD-DVD if they were going DD all along? Why not spend the resources and money that they put into the HD-add on for something that they "REALLY THINK WILL BE THE NEXT BIG THING" in DD? Pretty faulty logic on MS's business plan, huh?

exactly my thoughts. MS supporters always gets screwed. Hell, I supported MS for awhile until I realize that they don't bother putting consumers near the top of their list as most other companies do...... I'm actually looking to switch to the Mac.... You have a point with your ipod analogy. But figure this, most people don't watch a movie when they're on a train. They watch it at home on their (presumably) 1080p hdtv come 2009. When you spend 1000-2000 bucks on a tv, you expect to take full advantage of it's technology. But doesn't it seem kinda odd that someone who has a mac book will buy a 360 as this person should know that it's easier dealing with a mac?
