"With the way that the game works, we offload a significant amount of the calculations to our servers so that the computations are off the local PCs and are moved into the cloud. It wouldn’t be possible to make the game offline without a significant amount of engineering work by our team"

quote from lucy bradshaw is all BS because there are pirated versions already with cracks and the game works offline, so which one is truth?

i understand it better by reading your comments along with others, the article didnt really have the idea painted very clear, as i was thinking that when i upgrade my 2x(4GB) DDR3 ram sticks would be replaced by GDD5 sticks, which is totally wrong. bubble up very helpful

from what i got from the article is that GDDR is better than DDR, kinda like Blu-ray is better than DVD? from the sound of it, DDR is out with the old, in with the new GDDR.

Piracy or the attemp to battle piracy is the one if not the biggest reason, I left pc gaming. All the DRM, always online, etc, is BS and makes console gaming much easier, "put disc in and play" the last pc game I tried to do that with told me I have to be online, funny thing is I don't have Internet at home, so I couldn't play the game THAT I BOUGHT. Now my friends have Internet and pirate games only with DRM even if they don't play them, it's just a big FU to the bi...

i agree with you, speaking about myself i have over 65 360 games and over 70 ps3 games, and about half of them i havent played yet.. i have a very big backlog

@ jimbobwahey "Really, Sony and Microsoft need to realize that it's very important to some people and if it's too expensive to put in every console, then just release a more expensive SKU with BC included and charge enough to cover the cost, that way everyone wins."

if they had a mode...

i %100 agree with this article, as i didnt buy dead space 3 cause it had micro transactions, even though i loved the demo. also i cancelled my preorder of sim city once i found out about the always online catch. the last EA game i bought was dragon age, even though i have wanted to buy/play others

"For comparison the 3DS price drop saw it selling 196K the week of the drop."

was that a worldwide price drop or just a japan price drop with the 196k? honestly i dont know, so i figured i would ask

See I can understand this move to a point. They really didn't give us an adjustment period. Some said this to me
"This is the equivalent of being angry that your DVD player didn't come with a VHS tape slot and a LaserDisc drive and a 8mm film spindle. Seriously."

My reply isCompanies created DVD, and VHS Combos units when DVD's launched. To create a adjustment period.

ya the article shows his 1st statement as well, using the word "all" and shows his new statement which is far different.

"This is just another case of stupid spokesperson says stupid thing, then retracts stupid thing, defending his retraction by claiming the public 'misunderstood' him." well said bubble up

@ Ju, better rates on components makes a lot of sense, and maybe thats why its being done, to pass the savings on to us, so theres no big price tag

@ deadlyfire, i think the ps4 is going to have a world wide launch, not staggered like the ps3 launch. still those numbers are high, maybe ordering that many in bulk grabs a high discount?

did you notice that tomb raider had a new terms of agreement when buying it? my fiends have said you must always be signed into PSN to play it, unlike other purchases they have made

MS has now belittled all of the next-gen consoles from Nintendo, Sony and Valve.

first there was the "Wii U is basically an Xbox 360"

then the "European gamers won't know about the PS4 announcement"

and now this.

4763d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

I am thinking it is large. comparing even comparing it to the Wii U, with its launch, these PS4 numbers are way higher

buy a game for 60 bucks and cant play single player!! that reason alone should make the game flop

and what happens if the game does flop and the servers are shut down..you can never play that game again, even single player...

i dont mind microtransactions as long as they dont "pop up" or offer you something you normally cant get without grinding.

i know what you mean, i had this game pre-ordered until i found out about the always online DRM. now that doesnt bug me too much, its just i dont have internet offered in my home, only have it once i drive to work.
