They pulled back the update, 2.36 is now the current firmware version again :(

Ok, Sony pulled 2.40 back. The update is not live anymore. I guess my problem was more common than I expected.

I had the "freeze at launch after update" problem. My console would just boot into the default PS3 background with the waves and no XMB at all.
My PS3 is a 60Gb (bought at launch) upgraded to 320Gb so to fix it I just put the old 60Gb HDD on it and it runs fine now (and the 2.40 is already there).
Now I need to format my 320Gb to put it back in and restore all my stuff but I don't want to do it yet because I will loose my MGS4 save file (no backup for MGS4)...
@dachiefsman
I'm talking about both the GameInformer and EGM interviews (print magazines) where he keeps bragging about his new game (GeoW2) being the best in the freaking world. Also, just recently on ign he brags a little bit more about GeoW2:
"The system of cover was effective," explains Cliffy, "but we wanted to add the final ten per cent to turn it from really, really good, to phenomenal." Then he adds: "Hands down, this is the best cove...
Sorry, I respect Epic but I am loosing my respect for CliffB. Recently he has been getting on my nerves with his crappy interviews bragging about GeoW2 and putting down every other released and unreleased game. He even puts down his own games (GeoW1 and GeoW1/PC) to brag about GeoW2.
This dude is starting to look like a moron...
Too bad Kojima doesn't even know who the f**k CliffB is and every *real* gamer in the world knows Kojima.
I respect Epic a lot but this CliffB dude is getting on my nerves.... what a moron.
Kojima >>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>& gt;>> CliffB (who's that again?)
Same here, my dream car is the 911 turbo.
If they put in a 08 911 Turbo in the game I'm not driving anything else, rofl
You juts missing a little point... Guerrilla is creating both a GAME and an ENGINE simultaneously.
On the other hand, Epic has been working on UE3 for much longer than 4 years and they have been working on GeoW2 for the past 2 years. So I wouldn't suggest Guerrilla is slacking at all.
Guerilla is creating a true next-gen PS3-optimized engine and hopefully Sony will use it for other games. The only other engine I've seen that has such quality is CryENGINE.... hopefull...
So can you tell us where does it count and how do you know KZ2 does not have it?
Honestly from both videos (GeoW2 and KZ2) I think the KZ2 seems more fun to me. It also looks much better than GeoW2. The graphics quality of KZ2 is pretty amazing, lets see how the game turns out. Also we still need to hear about multiplayer for both games. GeoW1 multiplayer was pretty crappy :(
Seem like reasonable uses for Sixaxis, hope it works.
Good post, bubbles for you.
BTW: According to R*, GTAIV takes about 100 hours to complete. I doubt MGS4 takes that long though (hope not, 100 hours is too long)
10 hours of cut scenes, just wow. That's a lot of story to twist our brains.
Regarding people thinking the 10 hours is game play, unfortunately game play cannot be measure easily and even if it could, is it in easy, medium or hard difficulty?
Do you guys remember the easy mode (or was it very easy) of MGS3? The freaking easy gun with 85% ammo all the time and unlimited bullets? Well, whoever plays MGS in that mode deserves a short MGS experience.
Sam Houser himself likes the PS3 better, so who am I to contest it?
PS3 special edition from Amazon (with license plate) for me please ;)
That article was a total waste of time... that is guy is too biased to make any fair comparisons.
Uncharted is a great game my friend.
That list is pretty good. I would just replace Lost Odyssey by RockBand
Nintendo keeps saying they produce 1.8M/month so where are the 1.8M? They are not selling anything close to that and they are only sold out in North America. In Europe/PAL and Japan they are not sold out.
Either they lying about the 1.8M or they are holding them back on purpose to increase demand. Either way it's pretty sad.
@n4user1
I think what you don't want is to spend money. How do you feel about stealing movies? Do you steal music and games too?
I don't know if you realized it or not but I'm pretty sure Major Nelson is talking about free downloads.
And let's not even compare a 4Mb song to a 40Gb movie.... where will I store all my movies? How about backups? And the DRM?
I use iTunes a lot but only because I can make real CDs and backup my library pretty often. Also I buy without DRM whenever available. Without being able to backup I wouldn't buy from iTunes at all.
So, I will start buying digital movies/shows when I can manage my movie library in the same way I manage my music library. I need to be able to back...
I actually hope it's Muse's Hysteria :)
@RememberThe357
You can't download it because Sony pulled it back due. Most likely due to the "freeze" issues after updating (I got it but fixed it by reformatting my HDD).
