@a bunch of people

Bandwidth is not the most significant issue with Gaikai, it's ping. We're talking about an extra 100-500 ms delay between input and on-screen action. I don't care how amazing the games look, that kind of delay is absolutely intolerable.

I wonder if they'll go for a pop-top disc drive like in the slim ps2...

with the extra space taken by a hdd, unless they go for a pop-top lid it won't be much smaller than the current slim anyways.

I'm also running a 5770 right now, and I've only just recently started to crave an upgrade (still don't *need* it though.)

I think people often overestimate how much PC gaming costs nowadays.

With Moores law starting to slip, I think PC gaming will become a more viable and future-proof option for people.

Not that kind of 'hacked'...

Are people really so obsessed with graphics that they're willing to deal with this massive input delay?

Think about it, you're sending the signal from your controller into a box > which processes it and sends a network signal > goes through your home router > goes through several network servers along the way > network signal is decoded by onLive/Gaikai/whatever server > server processes input and renders graphics > compresses graphics for streaming ...

I'm hoping they're taking time to port it to PC. GTA IV wasn't released on PC until 7-8 months after consoles, damn that pissed me off. I refuse to buy a console just for one game when I already have a PC capable of playing it... (plus it looks better on PC, and you can't use mods on consoles...)

@koh I believe that there are a significant amount of people rating these comments that are freaks about swearing, from what I've seen a lot of semi-intelligent comments here get a lot of disagrees if they contains swearwords...

I have but one word for these people...

Fuck.

Must be a slow news day when a MC snapshot makes it to the 'front page'. These happen every week... and I think the snapshot that added cocoa plants and large biomes is much more significant.

I tried it, the villager trading is kinda lame, and the secret obsidian item is a chest that syncs its contents with all other instances of the chest.

Absolutely agree with #2 %100. Consoles already are effectively computers anyways, might as well take them one step further...

Although I have an issue with games always being connected to the internet. What happens when their servers go down or are retired? Just kill off DRM period. It's blatantly obvious that it isn't working anyways.

EA just needs to disappear.

I'm %99 sure the only reason they made the game always online was to curb piracy. So here we go, DRM hurts the consumer once again. Now if hackers manage to create an offline patch in the next few weeks, Blizzard will be sorely regretting that decision...

I started playing video games at a very young age so I can't quite remember which was first... but I think one of the more significant first games for me was Super Mario World for SNES. I must have beaten that game a dozen times back then...

I wonder how much these writers get paid to write this propaganda.

I tell ya, this whole industry is becoming so corrupt, it's sickening.

@synchroscheme I don't think Oblivion really counts, simply because of how the game was built. If you happened to make a really good character and get all the good weapons, all the enemies are easy. But if you played through the game a little more casually, I'd imagine the boss battles would be a bit harder.

You're assuming that publishers will pass on the savings to consumers. It's a nice thought, but it's highly unlikely...

What we need to do is somehow kill of publishers and create a direct connection to the developers. THIS would save everyone a lot of money, and these stupid ideas of "pay-passes" and "Used-game restrictions" would die out almost immediately.

Depends what your definition of "Beast PC" is.

This could easily play games at 4k resolution.

Forget Morrowind style, they should just add all of Morrowind!

I'm waiting for the day when all of Tamriel is available in one game (fully detailed with nice 3D graphics.)
