I wasn't trying to insult Xbox owners or be insulting in general. So I apologize if you some of you took it that way. I'm a gaming enthusiast just like most of you here. So not only do I go onto N4G but I go to other places too to get my gaming news fix. Unfortunately, the overwhelming comments and user opinions surrounding Xbox are overtly negative. I'm talking 70% of Xbox comments are not favorable toward the brand nor its games or services. It's almost as if the Xbox brand ...

Too little too late for Xbox. That's the sentiment around here. I don't see Xbox redeeming itself this gen or next gen. Honestly, I don't know why Xbox articles are even posted here as they cause more negativity than positive news. It's bad for the industry in general and creates the perception of console wars. No one in Europe or Asia buy Xbox. The brand is no longer relevant in the console space. I honestly think there should be a media blackout for Xbox in general unless it...

These lies need to be called out. Good on N4G for holding Xbox-friendly media's feet to the fire. It's up to gamers to make sure Xbox doesn't undeservedly receive any positive traction. As they stand they don't have business competing with Sony and Playstation.

California is the entertainment and social media capital of the world.

Why can't Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas compete with Cali? It's kinda Americans fault for letting California become so dominant.

Next gen:

Xbox could have the power advantage.
Xbox could have a new stable of quality exclusives.
Xbox could have the best array of services.

...and they still most likely not beat PS5 in sales. So everyone here needs to relax. I don't understand why the Xbox brand makes everyone so uptight.

Honestly, I see a lot of people arguing in bad faith, and that make me sad.

If you don't want t...

This stinks. I was looking forward to another Rockstar game dedicated to the PlayStation platform.

I'm curious, with PlayStation marketshare increasing and Xbox marketshare and mindshare shrinking, I'm wondering if Rockstar could make the next GTA a PlayStation "console exclusive"?

I wonder if Sony is looking at the numbers and thinking about it. I think it's entirely possible.

What the conversation should be is what can Sony do next gen that would suck the rest of the marketshare that Xbox still has.

I want to see someone write an article like that.

I think it's quite possible too. 95% of the steamers using console I see use PS4. The games media also always focuses on Sony and Playstation. I'd say 1 out of 5 articles talk about Xbox. And places like N4G, Reddit, and Resetera also have a 70-30 split on Playstation focu...

@Sophisticated_Chap

The gamesharing video with Shu and Boyes that propelled the Playstation 4 into the stratosphere was a video at E3 that was followed by raucous cheers from the packed crowd. That was at E3.

The only reason why I think Sony would pull out from E3 is due to them knowing that the next Xbox will be just as powerful or more powerful than the PS5 and they would like to control the messaging of their console and its capabilities at their own e...

This game is like an incredible RPG but with cars. An unlikely possibility but somehow Playground Games pulled it off.

This doesn't make sense. For example, Xbox and Steam have generous refund policies for digital purchases. If you purchase a game digitally and you immediately think it sucks you can return it for a full refund. If I go to GameStop and buy a new game, as soon as I unwrap it it depreciates in value.

If a game sucks there's no reason to hold onto it for more than a day. Otherwise you're "renting" if
one factors in the depreciation or you're...

Oh, I didn't know that.

So Microsoft and Google only have data centers in the US and Europe?

So why are so many people touting Microsoft and Azure so much?

I'm confused.

I don't see an advantage here then. If Microsoft is renting from Azure and Google is renting from whoever they rent data centers from then xCloud and project stream are not going to be as competitive as this article suggests.

Just how much would it cost Sony to purchase and operate data centers like Azure/AWS/Google Cloud?

If Sony is renting they'd either be losing on additional profit or their operating costs would be higher than Google's or Microsoft's thus passing the costs down to the consumer.

Sony has the content, now they gotta leverage their base into streaming, but why don't they just buy some data centers? They gotta have cash on hand considering th...

Exactly.

If I were Sony I would not have crossplay game next gen. If I were Sony I wouldn't have backwards compatibility in the PS5, it would save money and generate more revenue because PlayStation fans are very loyal and would gladly purchase remasters with a high quality production values. Gamepass is irrelevant and Sony would be smart to continue strengthening their relationship with retailers like GameStop to reinforce the power of physical and the great job they ...

I don't think the majority of console consumers really care for the value-added services Xbox provides. Features like cross-play, gamepass, unlimited cloud saves, 4K gaming, among others don't register at all with the gaming public.

Sony is smart as they only concentrate on producing content. I really do feel if Playstation did whatever they could next gen, including restricting used games with their own version of online DRM, they would still stay on top when it c...

My bad then. I had no idea Sony owned their own data centers.

Thanks for the correction.

2888d ago 3 agree1 disagreeView comment

Nope.

The reason because Microsoft and Google concentrate so much on the cloud is due to both of them having their own Cloud platforms. They're going to do everything to push the cloud initiatives they own.

Sony doesn't run or own their own data centers. Sony rents their data centers for PSN so I don't expect Sony to ever run large parts of their services through the cloud.

Thankfully Sony is not going to push this gimmic...

I'm surprised there hasn't been an article either written or posted here that defends Sony in all of this by stating that the PS4 has the Xbox brand on the ropes and disallowing crossplay as a temporary roadblock that will be removed once Xbox bows out.

It's an incredibly smart and shrewd move from Sony and one which I think would work if it wasn't for this cynical media attacking Sony all of a sudden. The strange part is that the media helped build up Sony...

The marketshare difference between Xbox and PS4 is just too large to ignore. There are obviously way more Sony fans on the internet than Xbox fans and even Nintendo fans. I think Sony is being super smart by not caving in to the pressure and they know they have an insane amount of support and know that they themselves can implement some tough love business practices to boost their bottom line without losing sales or support.

Sony is just waiting for Xbox to bow out of the ...
