Yeah that's something I find annoying. It was supposed to be bitesized episodes with short development times, and that was obviously not the case.
Of course it makes it right, it's their opinion. It's no less right than your opinion. And I'm sure the reason for their list is what they personally found the most enjoyable, and that's justification enough.
But they do make 'legit' reasons anyway so I'm not sure what your point is.

Even if those kids, as you say, grow up and move onto a Sony or Microsoft console, there are more kids to take their place, millions of them.
This is a short sighted view anyway, the wii is popular with families because it allows the whole family to be involved. Lack of online social networking has not detracted from it being a social experience, and I doubt the majority of wii owners care about the lack of it.
Mario and Zelda games always hold their value for a long time. Mario Galaxy was still being sold full price until the sequel came out.

I'm sorry you don't think it is, but it is the GOTY. Dark Souls was great, so was The Witcher 2, but they just get swept aside when it comes to Skyrim. It has a lot more scope and ambition.
Skyrim is just better.
