They should've put a better GPU in the machine. But 2 billion is alot. But with their movies making the money that they make the company itself is fine. Spider-Man 3 is coming out soon and that alone will make mass amounts of money all over the world and then make more money when it comes out on DVD and Blu-ray. But if they can keep the PS3 floating for 7 years with high-quailty games they'll be fine.

Leave already. Their product is not wanted in japan by the masses. I believe if they would put more focus on Korea and China they would sell alot more units and get some of those developers to make games for their system leading to more exclusives, which they need. Korea has been known to put out some pretty good RPG's and MMO's, it would broaden the horizon for the console that as of right now is seen as a Shooter only system.

for the sole reason of getting a higher installed base in its motherland. Most of sonys best selling games come from japan. They have to get a bigger installment of consoles in japan so that these games can stay Sony Exclusives. It sucks that they don't slash the price by at least $100 per SKU in the states it would really help them gain some ground when some of the big titles hit. Sony why wouldn't there be at least some mutual interest. It's not rumble its somthing totally new (at least for a controller). Some games can do without feedback. What is the claim that 360 has an attach rate of 5.4 games for every 360 out there.
That means that 54 million pieces of software should have been sold. 10 million 360's X 5.4 = 54,000,000 million games sold. The chart is out there. there is no way that 54 million pieces of software have been sold. Especially when gears has sold only 3 million of that. FF7 battle system with some tweaks would be great. FF7 battle system with RE4 or Shenmue type interactivity with the world might be pretty awesome. Reason is that for me after FF7 I really liked to summon the monsters and see the cinematic parts.
