Naughty Dog has some serious talent on their staff. Uncharted 1 looked amazing and yet they were still able to one up themselves. Sony truly has the best first party developers ever...
No mocap here just good old fashioned hand animation. And for the record the balls are small reflective coated balls, not blue. :) But I see what you did there. :D
"And, I find these "head to head" comparisons rather useless in real life"
Useless? Since when is being informed useless? If you had known that Ghostbusters was an inferior, yes....inferior, product on the PlayStation 3 would you still have bought it? I mean you would consciously pay the same $60 for a botched port? That's foolish in my book.
Sometimes the comparisons are close like this one, but can be miles off like in the case of Ghostbusters a...
yeah, last I saw Eurogamer numbers were just as staggering:
Xbox: 99 Tie: 51 PS3: 15
Not pointless by any means, the PlayStation 3 version still demonstrated performance issues that was present in the demo. Just be glad you bought the right version.
Seriously, what a useless comparison. Really? PC looks better? Naw, really?!?!?! Couldn't have guessed that one.:D He never mention one visual difference on the PS3/Xbox 360, let alone performance.
I will be waiting for Lens of Truth and Eurogamers analysis before I make my purchase.
yeah, this is really weak. I was going into the article thinking someone modded the games to be cell shaded....no....just poor photoshoping skills. There is so much more that goes into cell shading it is ridiculous. Just running poster edges doesn't cut it.
fail.
"The console wars really anger me because so much effort goes into ensuring the game is the same on each platform."
Lets hope this is true because COD4 (Infinity Ward) and COD:WaW (Treyarch) have had lower resolution textures on the PlayStation 3. But I am sure that they have spent the extra time on this AAA title to ensure they are equals.
11-10-09 can't come soon enough.
It is just sad. Just when you think the PS3 is on equal playing ground (multi-platform) with the 360, crap like this happens. Good ole lazy devs...
It all comes down to the developer. Most studios choose the Xbox 360 for the ease of development and the simple porting to the PC (or PC dev to Xbox 360). Anything that can be ported quickly to the PC is quick cash for the studio. It is not that they "gimp" the graphics for one system or the other, it is usually just the lack of experience in the development team. For example, the late GRIN developed on the PS3 and ported to the Xbox 360. Xbox 360 versions of their games suffered fr...
"Come on LoT, can you guys produce anything original? News flash, Eurogamer got the comparisons department on lock, so there's no need for copycats."
You need to give credit where credit is due. There are only 3 websites that does this sort of frame rate and performance analysis. Eurogamer in Europe, PS360 for Japan and Lens of Truth for America.
And since when is anything on the internet original?
apparently you did not watch the video...sigh.
"Comparisons are becoming a thing of the past, seeing how multi-platform titles are becoming so close, that you need a frame rate analysis to tell the difference."
You are correct, they are becoming very close visually. But there is still some work to be done in the performance department. I hate tearing and comparisons like this are a service to many.
BTW, no problem with the YouTube video. Quality is just fine. Heck, you can download a 60fps mp4 from thei...
Capcom has gotten greedy as of late. First they charge you extra for outfits that would have been included in the game had DLC never existed. Then they charge you to play multiplayer on RE5. Now they decide to re-release SFIV as Super SFIV and charge who knows how much.
Wake up...it is not the 90's anymore. People aren't going to be buying a Street Fighter every year because you tweak or add a couple of characters.
You are correct saying that the exclusives look better on the PlayStation 3. And if you are fine playing only exclusives, then stick with it. But unfortunately exclusives only make up roughly 10% of library. The rest of the games out in the marketplace, probably 75% of them, are a better experience on the Xbox 360 because it was the lead platform.
PS3 = for exclusives.
Xbox 360 = for everything else.
"With the 360 side loosing ground. "
Yeah, you are not a fanboy or anything. As far as I am concerned the PS3 continues to win the exclusive content but consistently loses when it comes to 3rd party games. Developers are getting better with the porting, but even the best have problems on Sony's platform.
Well I guess we know which version they developed on. I just wish that developers would take the extra time to make the PS3 version perform as well as the 360. It is really pathetic at this point...
"Once you find a reviewer you trust, stick with them but don’t rely on reviewers or game comparisons to make up your mind. Happy gaming!"
Personally, I rely on a mix of both reviews and comparisons. Before purchasing a game, especially if there is no demo, I will check out a few of my trusted review sites to see how the actual game is (gameplay, story, length, etc.). Then if I decide it is worth a second look I will refer to comparisons to help determine which version l...
You also have to take into account what was in the license agreement with the car manufacturers. Many of the highend car companies do not want to see their cars damaged due to product image as well as it will not be an accurate, true to life damage model. This is one of the main reasons we have not seen damage in the Gran Turismo series.
It is was it is and we will see how the damage system looks on GT5. But I have a feeling that there is some restrictions in place since it is a ...
I chose to preorder on the Xbox 360 as for the past COD games it was visually superior (higher resolution textures). I really hope IW spent the extra time to polish up the PS3 version.
