Meh. The DS is good, but it doesn't deserve to sell more than PS2 as far as games go. Just goes to show you how much control the casuals have on the market. I know a lot of "hardcore" gamers buy the DS too (it's a good handheld) but look at the top software sales for it, and it's Nintendogs, Brain Age, Mario Party, etc. With a few good games like FFIV thrown in here and there.
yea, but look at the TYPE of software the Wii and DS are moving. More than half are crappy mini game compilations. It's at least good that Mario is up there though.
These software sales prove though that Wii and DS are casual gamer consoles. I own both of them for the occasional awesome Nintendo franchises (like Mario, Metroid, Zelda, etc.), but for the most part people are buying these crappy games that take $40 to make. WTF is Hannah Montana and High School Musical doing...
Nice to see Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank in the PS3's top 10. Those games definitly deserve it.
I have a Wii and a PS3. I enjoy the Wii VERY occasionally for the big Nintendo franchises like Metroid, Zelda, and Mario. Other than that, my PS3 gives me MUCH MUCH more enjoyment. I gave into the initial hype of the Wii when I got it, and now it's kinda boring. If I could go back, I wouldn't have bought it, but it's allright. There are still enough games to keep me occasionally interested in it, so I'll keep it.

how is it a good week for gamers when 7 of the top 10 software sales were mini game compilations/brain training?
Frankly, I'm kinda scared of Nintendo. They're starting to get a monopoly on their hands, and it's not for the right reasons IMO. I have a Wii and PS3, and I get MUCH more enjoyment out of my PS3. I even play my friends' 360s more than I play my Wii. And obviously Mario, Zelda, and Metroid aren't the reasons it's selling, because they had those same games last gen with the Cube and it didn't dominate then. I just really hope Wii sales will slow down enough for the others to catch up.
hmmm...could've sworn I'd seen those before. Mabye there are some old and some new mixed on the pages. Well, whatever, it's looking very good.

cool! I just got my PS3 for Christmas yesterday with an extra controller and Heavenly Sword and Ratchet and Clank. I'm going to the store this weekend to get Uncharted and Resistance.
and, I'm shocked that PS3 beat 360, but after playing my PS3 for several hours, I can say it deserves it.
i'm all for DQ9 on PSP, but I really don't care as I own a DS and will be owning a PSP in the near future.

I'm glad this game is coming along good, but I don't know if it'll be able to be as good as it's predicessor. ToS is in my Top 3 games of all time.
I think SMG is VERY over-rated by the media, but it is every bit as worthy a contendor as Bioshock IMO. I think either had an equal chance, and this one just went to Mario.
I still think Uncharted should've gotten slightly higher scores than it did. I think a lot of reviewers may think so too in retrospect, considering all the extremly positive feedback and GOTY awards it's been getting from a lot of gaming places. I know it averages some pretty impressive scores, but from all the positives and lack of negatives you hear about this game, I would think it'd average 9.4-ish.
I can't wait to get my PS3 in 3 days! I'm debating whether I should play Uncharted or Ratchet for my very first game on it. Actually, now that I think about it, the first game I played on PS1 was Crash Bandicoot. The first game I played on PS2 was Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. So I'm thinking I'm gonna make my first played PS3 game (well, on my own PS3) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

They both look the same IMO. I don't really care as it looks WAYYYYYY better than any Wii game (the only console I have this gen untill the 25th) and the gameplay looks awesome, so i'll probably get it.
meh list. I have a Wii, this was a pretty good year, but there's only a small handfull (3) titles that I want for it next year. I'll be buying a lot more games for my PS3 i'm getting for Christmas.
DS is getting plenty of titles though IMO.
Don't get me wrong, I really liked SMG, but I just felt like after playing it for 20 minutes I wanted to stop and then I would force myself to play it. I had absolutely no "desire" to turn it on and play it, and then I could only play it in 20 minute intervals before I got bored. I don't know what it was, it just wasn't very addictive for me at all.
Compared to Ratchet and Clank, where I just didn't want to put the controller down, or Uncharted, or Mass Effect.
