I would consider Monster Hunter as more of an action rpg. Octopath, just like Persona 5, is a turn based Jrpg which is the bread and butter of Japanese’s gaming.
And I believe that MH had mainstream appeal even before it is released on the X1/PS4. Just look at its sale especially on the 3DS. This is not an unknown/niche franchise.

I don’t think “graphiczzz” make a game better. Look at Octopath Traveller for example, it is one of the best RPGs this gen. It has retro graphic and the file size is just under 4 gigs.
I just recruited Primrose and let me tell you, her story is amazing. Might even be the best one out of the 8 protagonists.
