I don't think there is a battle anymore. Playstation is unreachable for Microsoft. Xbox must now compete with Nintendo who is currently second on NPD.
I doubt xbox will take a risk like that. At least not now that things are not great. They will rather squeeze the game as is now even if it is decreasing its popularity.
If the Xbox community is fine with games like Sea of Theaves then they are going to be ok with this one.

Play this game on hard mode. It is so satisfying and it feels almost as hard as Dark Souls.

They are not lying but without context, you don't know what is that comparison. Imagine previous rare games only sold $500 first week to say a number and now SoT sold $600 and they say wow, rare fastest selling game.
Do you see it? It sold very poorly but it was better than the rest.
That is why having numbers and context is important to understand if what they are saying is really positive or not.
But what were the other games they are comparing it to? And what all those other games actually sold?

Sony and Nintendo are having great success without game pass because they actually invest in what gamers want, true exclusives games with high quality.
Game pass is like those special sales some stores do when their merchandise is not moving that well.
Nintendo needs a mature Zelda game with mature graphics.
I recommend everyone to play this game on hard mode because it will make you really be careful, learn the attacks, study your enemies and is very rewarding.
