I agree with alot of what you said but then also you have HDMI 1.3 that allows more information to be sent because of the new colors (not new to your eyes) that they plan on transmitting and the better audio. Thos things take up space and if you can, you don't really want to compress anything. You compress because you have to not because you want to.
I still agree with most of what you said though.
The technology isn't even supposed to hit the market till 2010. The players for these will be...just a bit expensive. (sarcasm) Blu-ray technology existed in 2004 but didn't hit the market till...well you already know and it still hasn't caught on to the point of over throwing dvd.
When this catches on it probably will be incorporated in our Xbox 720's and our PS4 as they push to be next-gen. Just a guess based on how everything else has rolled out...
Anyone who even knkow what a PS# is knows that its a trojan horse. Its not even a new strategy for Sony. They used the same one with dvd players in the PS2. Sure they could have cut cost and left the cd drive in the PS2 but they could do more for gaming and their dvd business by adding it. It helped drive the cost of dvd players down like it will for blu-ray AND hddvd players because they are all 3 in competition now.
Nobody buying a PS3 didn't know that. Some use it, some don...
You're dead on bladestar, you should know what you're getting into when you buy either system but as someone pointed out above, what's up with MS's pricing???
$99 for 20gb...Honestly, with all the limitations it has and they still charge that much. $179 for $120gb...Some body should slap their faces. Shouldn't it be more lik $79? Tiger direct has a Hitachi 400gb for $99 after rebate and Seagate has a 320 gb external for $109.99. MS isn't even trying to competitively price its ...
I agree. Whoever told him to say that is quite a gifted liar. I have a 360 and I didn't expect it to "evolve" a year and a half after I bought the premium. Consoles generally don't do that (I feel a Sega CD comment coming). Computers evolve every 3 months. Software evolves every 3 months. Am I to expect that it will "evolve" again in another year in a half? I would like to ask will it be evolving into a new console again anytime soon. I want to know when to stop working OT...
That's the bad part about this video, it's one game. Next someone is going to do the same thing with a PS3 game loading faster than the 360 and we'll have this argument all over again.
"Can't we all get along?" is too cliche...
"STFU" is too crude...
"Who cares?" is very appropriate. I have both systems but I'm not going to play them both at the same time. The was like 5 seconds different. If I had bought the game for...
Having a larger hard drive, HDMI, and painting the 360 black makes the PS3 similar but they were always comparable. You can compare anything. They both play games but they have some very distinct differences that MS didn't really touch on with the new Elite installment. When I say that I'm speaking in terms of the multi-card reader, bluray, and the interchangeable hard drive.
They may not have thought it good business since. We shall see if that was an error or unnecessary ite...
I'll respond since he can't. I have both as some of you do. Some friends of mine came into town and we had no experience on Resistance as i just got my PS3 and I hadn't had time to play Gears so I bought them both at the same time because of their visit.
Gears is a great game. Its fun, and exciting. The game looks fantastic. (heard this anywhere before?)
Resistance is an amazing game. The AI is incredible and the wide open maps makes you feel like you just got o...
I had Need for Speed: Most Wanted freeze up on my 360 last night. It's the first time the system has ever frozen and i got it at launch. I was scared I would get the red light of death so I rearranged my entertainment center. Can't take the risk. I'm going to go find a small, portable fan from Walmart to keep air circulating past all my electronics down there.
Is Halo 3 coming out on a small corporations console? (Rhetorical)
You know what I'm getting at...your biasness is blinding you.
Bladestar I have a question for you and most people here that believe that blu-ray or dvd for that matter won't be here for 5+ years strong.
How many DVD's do you own?
I have over 200 dvds. (ever growing)
I can't get all of that content on an 360 Super Elite let alone the 120gb coming with the Elite. I can't get it all on my 250gb hard drive. Let's just say they were all in HD format. What size hard drive would I need? How much do you think that'l...
^^Sony's one year lead??? The PS3 came out 4 months ago. I've got food in the freezer older than that. (Yeah, I should clean out my freezer :))
and I wanted to buy it in Nov. 2005. Instead I bought a not so Premium. I enjoy my 360 and will continue to purchase games for it but this is still dirty pool.
I'm at work, can't read the article because of filters. Does it say whether the HDMI is 1.3 or not?
I too am put off by this and feel a little...disrespected. If this would have come out at launch I would have bought it. Its a hassle now to sell the 360 then go by this thing. Plus, not opening up the hard drive to use bigger (available) hard drives is still not cool. 120gb is nice but i have had 250 in my computer for 3 years now.
Personally, this is worse than ...
My 1080p tve and surround sound look and sound better with HDMI. This is not subjective.
Does anyone know whether this is HDMI 1.3 or not?
I agree #1. This is poor manuever and I hope one that is unsuccessful. If Sony comes out with PS3 with a slightly enhanced PS3 (not that entertainment behemoth PS3)but a PS3 with a 500gb hard drive and a 1080p projector built-in (screen sold seperately) I'll scream bloody murder!
Of course, I'm exaggerating but I don't like MS's approach on this one. I'd rather they open the 360 up to put in whatever hard drive that you want instead of selling this. What happens when terabyte hard dri...
You're preaching to a guy who's a little pissed right now. I got the premium the day it came out. I would have purchased the Elite at that same time but I'm not going to go through the hassle of selling my 360 and spending the extra dough to get an Elite that has no better functionality than my PS3.
I'm not very upset because it my 360 is not worthless because of these additions but it would have been a juggernaut if it had been released at lauch a year ago. What's up with not adding...
That's good news for Sony and probably makes it's software selling comparisons to the 360 a little more realistic now that is available to everyone and not just Japan and the US.
Lets see if this keeps up. I assume we'll be seeing Mass Effect in the top ten this summer being that its been awhile since the 360 has dropped a must have. That's not a slight to MS because they have several very interesting prospects on the horizon. Every console has a dry period.
I think you may be missing the point. Rushed to markey its scaled down system to get the one year lead as opposed to doing it right the first time. That's not cool.
If Sony came out with the PS3 Elite with a the same GPU as the 360 and the same amount of RAM for $670 next year, I would be PISSED! You're telling me for a mere $70 more I could have had that little bit extra to make my system better but didn't, that's not cool. That's how I feel about the Elite 360.
They ...
Ahhhh,...see...here we go. Next week, MS will have a new box out and then Sony and then MS. This is bull. I sure hope this is untrue. They have no reason to when you can swap out your hard drive for one on the market.
I think Microsoft calls it the "Elite" version. That's what it was called in the Game Informer article.
