I think if they want to compete with the PS2. They could drop the price by 25 dollars at least. In other words go back up to 325 instead of 350. A middle ground incentive to customers to buy the console cheaper still and also recoup some money. That way they could get their machines into more hands before virtual reality comes out.
Probably. I understand this. It's a small gamble. I don't understand why it has to go all the way back to 350 though. Why not 25 dollars off? I never understood why they have to do it by 50 dollars off? Why not gradually faster price drops at 25 dollars? Let's say they do raise the price again? 325 dollars sounds like a good middle ground. Then eventually 300. So on. 275. They could constantly stay ahead at a faster rate dropping price at 25 dollars a pop.
Let's do the run down. Ps4 runs better, jaggies on Xbox, little cleaner look on PS4, some effects missing in Xbox. Resolution favored towards PS4.
Keep the price drop. The incentive is really easy to see. Bury the competition. Put the machine, thus more online subscriptions, also more software, therefore more virtual reality potential buyers in hands. It's a exponential payoff rippling effect. Don't compete with Xbox anymore. Start competing with PS2. Bury PlayStation 2. You can do that with a price drop momentum, Virtual Reality boost in sales, Uncharted 4, Final fantasy 7, Horizon Zero Dawn, Street Fighter V, Neir, Gravity Rus...
They both have shite cpu power. Xbox is horribly underpowered. Ps4 is slightly underpowered with a decent gpu and memory. These are the equivalent of both barely passing the hardware test. They are essentially PS3's with a beefed up memory and GPU. The cell in PS3 in fact is still on par if not stronger than both consoles cpu. PS4 had its heart in the right place at GPU. Barely. When a say 12 cores for the CPU? I mean a full 12 cores. 2 seperate cores reserved and completely seperate for the OS and Virtual Reality. The other 12 cores strictly for gaming.
This is what want in the PS5. 5 times powerful is great. I want a full 5 times the power though. Not just on paper. Ps5 only 5 times stronger than PS4? Hmmm. I hope it's on the higher end of 5 times stronger. Not on the low end only technically 5 times stronger. 5 times is exponential seeing how powerful each iteration of console is always times a few numbers. So 5 is pretty decent but modern PC are probably already 10 times as powerful on the higher end.
@DivineAssault this is gonna especially true with all these next games in 2016 using the PS4 7th core. Let alone the vast exclusives lineup. It's like a complete reversal of what Xbox did this year. Only all that still didn't work for Xbox. Now Sony is quickly on its way to secret sauce article, exclusive huge year, and Virtual Reality.
This is a valid conversation. I think PS4 users in particular should be given that option of gameplay vs resolution.
