At the very least I think using Kickstarter for reviving old franchises or gauging interest in niche series is acceptable even from big companies. Mid-sized companies trying new IP may be acceptable as well, and anything from small fries is fair game, obviously.
If Square-Enix put a Threads of Fate 2 Kickstarter up I'd be all over it, but not if they tried a Hitman Kickstarter. There's a difference there.
Incorrect. Do some research and you'll usually be safe. Just randomly donating to any random campaign is foolish, however.
"Hundreds"? "Thousands"? Produce a list of one hundred of these and I'll concur. I bet you can't do half of that and I will match you 2-for-1 for every "ripoff" you do list. Good luck.
MN9 is mediocre but not bad. If it scares people off then they're not doing their research; lots of games are worth backing.
"If one mediocre game doesn't scare people away from crowdfunding games, they deserve to lose every dollar they give."
While asinine, I agree to an extent. There is an inherent risk and that's just part of the system, take it or leave it. I'm satisfied, personally.
More misinformation...I like how every Kickstarter basher pulls out random numbers from their asses. 99%? Cite your source, hardly any Kickstarter games are scams.
Because trolls and misinformation, exaggeration (MN9 was mediocre, not bad, so get over it) and so on. Sure, some Kickstarters have turned out badly but plenty have done well. Takes your risks or don't, and shut up. It's a great site and tool for developers, and a great way for gamers to express what they want in meaningful ways, and direct the flow of gaming personally.
People are going to ruin Kickstarter and we will have nobody to blame once good games dry up and...
Any added material should be truly added and not severed, then re-attached. We have no way of knowing when this occurs (except when it is obvious it has, see Capcom) so all DLC is suspect. Even when it isn't, holding it back or planning to release it separately from the beginning is just as bad. It's like if SMB shipped without Fire Flower and added it as DLC back in the day, unacceptable.
MTs are a plague upon gaming.
Vita 3000 incoming.
Seems neat, SotC inspired things are always interesting.
If you own no other consoles, then sure...maybe.
Nice art.
They should tweak this a bit and release it on 3DS and Vita.
White knighting in pathetic.
PS5 would be a "risk" in what universe? Every PS home console has done insanely well, even the PS3 did good despite several stumbling blocks in its path. A PS5 is a no brainer for the company, it is no risk as long as they play it safe and don't go all Nintendo on it.
Incorrect. Core gamers do not prefer smartphones, 3DS has sold well enough to prove that. Vita was just a poorly marketed, undersupported system released against the 3DS which got a major price cut relatively early, plus smartphones really ramped up around that time. It was a bit pricy, and has even more expensive memory cards, too. Even the name, "Vita," people didn't respond to it like they would have with "PSP 2." Everything went wrong, don't pretend it's th...
Not really. They're just not doing exclusives which don't really matter, and frankly shouldn't exist some day. Ideally we move toward a DVD situation soon.
This was a system Nintendo really kicked ass with concerning 1st party. They had barely any 3rd party but they supported it so damn well with their own games that I didn't even notice when I was a kid. Today it is a bit lacking in some genres I really love, like RPGs, but I really don't care. It goes down as one of the legendary systems in gaming. Too bad Wii marked the end of Nintendo...
I sort of agree. There should be certain limitations to larger companies, for sure. Perhaps a different site branch or something as well, if they're allowed.
