What are you talking about? Nintendo's SNES was stronger than Genesis, N64 was comparable to PS1/Saturn, and NGC actually went beyond DC and PS2. You don't know what you're talking about, they were only ever severely underpowered compared to their primary competition with the Wii and Wii U. The odd console has come around stronger than the competition but was never doing that good (like Turbo and Neo Geo you cited).
