Semi-powerful tablet? It will be the most powerful Android tablet on the market (obviously not for long with how fast tech moves, Tegra 3 coming out soon). And with the most space of any others.
But yeah, there isn't really a such thing as a gaming tablet just yet..
You should really stop exaggerating for the purpose of making it look like you have an actual point.
New GPU series come out every 6-8 months now. And only every second series is usually worth upgrading to, because the one after is usually just a refresh of the same chip design that's been optimized a bit. And sometimes the series after that is still a refresh also and then finally a new architecture that's worth upgrading too.
Learning something new about technology is not a waste of time.
BF3 needs dedicated servers (that aren't provided by a sole company, but the players) and LAN play. It's a no sell for me now due to them choosing not to do this. This is the core capability that is needed to make an FPS game a long lasting online game that builds a community and stays alive.
@ATi_Elite:
There are plenty of rich PC gamers who have lots of money to throw around to get the best of the best. They don't really care too much about the price tag.
EA is basically killing any chance of BF3 being a long lasting PC game. Personal dedicated servers, LAN play and MOD capability are the cornerstones of what make an FPS popular on the PC. It is what allows it to be played for years and years, building a strong community.
I wish the idiotic CEO's could understand that in return, this creates more talk about the game, and thus more sales over time. Stop thinking about the super short term.
Btw, it should be noted that it's implemented through DX11. So you'll need a DX11 compliant GPU. They have a dedicated tessellation processing unit built into them (multiple for Nvidia GPU's.) Which is why tessellation is seeing a rise in use now. It wasn't efficient enough being run on the general purpose shaders of the GPU. It's finally worth it now performance wise.
After EA recently announced BF3 won't release personal server files, no LAN play, it has pretty much ensured that BF3 won't overtake MW3. MW3 is going to allow personal dedicated servers. None of this greedy third party host bullshit.
Risen 1 was great, and this looks to be keeping the same gameplay for the most part. So I would advise you to try it out first. It's a great free-roaming rpg/adventure game. With a good storyline and good gameplay mechanics.
@Ocelot: The GPU driver does NOT control the fan speed. Fan speed is part of the cards internal BIOS. Even if you have no graphic drivers installed, the fan on the card will still run to keep it cool. To change fan speed, you need to use a program like MSI Afterburner, which can modify the bios.
Technically it's more than 4 months, since a new generation didn't come out this month, it came out a few months ago.
Yeah haha. The only thing the memory storage says is that it's working as any octree structured pointcloud should, streaming in only the detail that needs to be... That data has to be decompressed when brought into memory anyway. They will still be facing the same problems similar implementations face.
The Atomontage engine seems to be far more advanced than theirs already.

Unfortunately, just like their previous videos, they fail to mention the things the engine CAN'T do. Because obviously they would like to get investors.
This system won't be used anytime soon, due to these things he doesn't talk about. Like shadows for instance. You cannot do dynamic shadows/lighting in real-time when dealing with such massive amounts of point cloud data. It's too much point data to search through on each frame to update lighting.
Umm... Ahasverus. I hope you're not talking about the Avatars themselves, as those were entirely CG. Just that MOCAP was used to give them life.
And it was incredibly photorealistic. But the design of the landscape and creatures themselves was surrealistic. I don't know what movie you were watching.. lol

Or not? Since moving to physically based rendering techniques actually makes the game development process easier. Materials are simpler while achieving a vastly better look, lighting is much easier to set up and get good results. Better types of procedural programming can help build things dynamically and uniquely on the fly, like landscapes and dense vegetation. More animation can be smart-interpolated between each other, making the animation job a lot easier while also making movement trans...
The ability to do better graphics will also allow for those things you mentioned. More memory so things can be kept in memory at farther draw distances, decreased loading times due to more RAM to pre-load data in as you go (and hopefully an SSD in the new console that the game will be cached too, although unlikely :( ), 60fps of course will be easier for dev's, as will more enemies and more computationally intensive AI....
All this stuff is related to how good of graphi...
You can't do anything about piracy.
It's easier to build high-poly assets for a game than optimized low poly ones. Typically most models are created in high-poly to begin with, then a low poly version is created and maps are generated from the high-poly to make the low poly look better, such as normal maps.
Better hardware that doesn't require such tedious time spent optimizing models would make studios workload easier for the most part.
Already happens in GTA IV. The technology they are talking about is the Euphoria engine, which is in GTA IV.
Things like this need to get below the $150 mark to truly "revolutionize". It has to be at a price point that is acceptable to the vast majority.
And I know for a fact that two OLED screens of that resolution at that size, coupled with a fair quality 5.1 surround sound headphone system does not cost anywhere near $649 USD to make. Not even $400, accounting for a fairly large profit margin. It would cost less than $90 to make those.
