You know what's the worst part when discussing anything MMO related with me? I know more than you, and so I know exactly when you're full of shit. I've played more MMOs than I care to remember, and I've been playing them long before Runescape was even a twinkle in somebody's imagination. While using factually wrong, vague and/or largely irrelevant information to back up your flawed arguments might impress some less knowledgeable players, it only amuses me.

Common sense suggests that games coming out today should -- at the very least -- meet the standards of MMOs released over 15 years ago when it comes to the number of concurrent players on one server etc. for them to be labeled as MMOs.
Incorrect ideas don't turn into correct ones if millions of misinformed people believe them to be true. So whatever, if anything, goes on in the minds of MOBA players is of little importance here. We're discussing an article written by ...
Awesome, except those are not MMOs. How can I take seriously someone who can't even put a game in the correct genre?
Funny how you get to call marketing babble taken straight from the back of a product's package a review now.
And $60 is cheap now? I've spent a lot of money on gaming peripherals, but let's be honest here; Razer is not exactly known for extensive Q&A before releasing anything or using high quality materials in their products. Why should I pay $60 for this? Oh, it's a gaming keyboard. And what makes it a gaming keyboard? Aside from the fact it's by Raze...
"And here is the funny thing - the game was released two years ago. Still, with all those mods Skyrim looks as good as most modern-day titles.
Funny? In a sad kind of way, maybe. It speaks volumes about the current state of gaming.
Skyrim didn't look that great to begin with as it was hampered by the outdated console hardware. I'd like to remind you that when it released, it was supposed to look the same on all three platforms. And it did, sadly,...
Oh, you didn't know that the competition offers some good things too? That's what rabid fanboism'll do. You cannot have a rational discussion about Steam anymore where you, god forbid, mention some of its flaws, list some things that could be improved. No, it's all perfect. You'll get verbally gangbanged by mindless drones who've been told that Valve's the god's gift to PC and it needs to be venerated as such.
Buying hardware in bulk to make 5349085349040 consoles is cheaper than buying separate parts from retail distributors to put together a gaming PC.
Even though Sony is getting the components for much less than your average PC assembling Joe would, they're making no money off their consoles.
Who would ever imagine Sony could make a deal with hardware manufacturers and get their parts even cheaper than retail stores can (not to mention the customers of those...
wtf is a next-gen PC? Get a grip.
Are you a 13-year old girl or just trolling?
Who would actually wear that on their male characters? I could feel my life force slowly waning just looking at this crap. Seeing it in action would probably kill me on the spot.
Thank jeebus NCsoft has no plans of making this atrocity available to the Western markets. Speaking of, why is it news here?
Ah yes, let the dickish silent "disagrees" flow in. Anyone cares to elaborate what is it exactly that they don't agree with?
Am I wrong in thinking that games from such an acclaimed studio should exhibit a higher level of polish upon release? Is it normal for other studios with such status to reuse sounds and other content for over a decade? Should I not expect title A to perform at least as well as title B, especially considering that A looks like a game from h...
One of the most overrated dev studios ever. Right up there with DICE, BioWare and Blizzard. They're kind of like Splash Damage in that they take a decent engine id Tech 1/2 and turn it into utter crap. Source based games have always been swimmy and the feeling just wasn't right compared to id Tech 1 and id Tech 2 titles. And before you come to me with your failed argument about CS and its popularity, see how the size of your favorite musician's fanbase compares to that of some pop...
Here we go again with the usual new console generation bullshit. New consoles get released and they get some exclusives. Some of them look good. What about the multiplatform titles? Looking better on the PC? How come? You can draw your own conclusions from that.
At least with the previous generations the consoles could compete with high-end PCs. This time around? Not so much, which makes the situation so much more laughable.
As usual, the console exclusives h...
How is Kane & Lynch a bad game (not to mention the worst)? The story was decent, the visuals were nice at the time, and the way the camera was handled coupled with all the effects created an atmosphere not seen in any game before. Most importantly though, the characters were just a wee bit more interesting and original than your generic, angry at the whole world, sarcastic, dark-haired 30-something with a buzzcut, a stubble and a big mouth.
Seems to me like the author'...
My thoughts exactly. They're greedy and it's going to bite them in the ass.
Judging from what most of the recent big budget MMOs have been like, it's very likely anyway that the game isn't going to be that much different from what the competition has to offer gameplay-wise and will follow in their footsteps with server consolidations and transition to F2P soon after launch.
More like, the era of innovative MMOs is over. You can't really justify charging a $15 monthly fee for yet another themepark game with timeless/"stylized" graphics (which in reality means: graphics that are shit from the very beginning, not just 2-3 years after launch) that tries very hard to be WOW but fails miserably.
We'll have to wait and see what the next EverQuest brings. It's going to be the first big budget sandbox MMO. Hopefully SOE can handle i...
That's how it's usually done. If you sub for 3 months, you get a discount. Bigger ones for 6 and then 12 months.
Blizzard's making a fukton of money off of the subs they have. Why would they be going F2P and giving it all up? Just because they're testing microtransactions doesn't mean they're going F2P; they're adding some F2P-like items/microtransactions to make some additional cash from people who are subbed AND are willing to spend even more. Any other scenario does not even make sense for a game that, even after losing over 1.5mil players, is still at a level of popularity that n...
Yup. The fact they reused so much content from the original FC3 felt kinda cheap too, but I'm a sucker for the 80s, seizure-inducing laser shows, absurd humor and explosions, so I couldn't help but love this game. Trumps ROTT as far as arcade FPSes that don't take themselves seriously go, IMO.
