Remember the 3DS has a lot of third party support that is entirely independent of the PS Vita. I don't see EA bothering dumbing down Dragon Age 3, Battlefield 4, Mass Effect etc. for the Wii U once the two "top dogs" release. Same with other publishers and their flagship series. Only reason Wii U is getting the likes of Mass Effect and COD now is because it is comparable to current-gen consoles in terms of graphics. But that's just my two cents

I think with RE5 onwards Capcom just tried way too hard to acquire a bigger audience and made the franchise a bit over-the-top and a bit too action-orientated for fans of the series. A comment I made earlier (with heavily inflated numbers for the 360):
Let's say, for arguments sake, that Xbox 360 is currently at 80 million sold and PlayStation 3 is at 70 (which we all know not to be true). 30% of those 80 million are somewhere in a huge pile of trash. So that leaves 56 million. A maximum of 5% of Sony's 70 million is in the trash. That leaves 66.5 million fully operational.

I think another important factor to consider is how vastly different current-gen consoles' architectures are from one another. Small independent companies might not have the finances to support design of a new or tweaking of their current game engines to support a different console. I think with next-gen games second-party developers will decrease immensely, either being purchased by the companies whose consoles they create games for, or just turning third-party to increase profits. The fact that all consoles have online this gen will make the companies support them for longer due to people who would buy games on them instead in the beginning because their friends still play on them. With the leap from PS2 to PS3 that was hardly a problem, with only a few games supporting online play. Those were my first thoughts as well, but just take into account that China were forced to copy consoles because it isn't available to them. Though I don't think the knock-off market will be reduced to 0% and the big 3 will scoop up the full 100%, I think it will be a safe assumption to say that they will at the very least gain 30% of the market. With China's huge population that is still a MASSIVE leap. I think it will be a 50/35/15% split in the end for Nintendo, Sony and Micros...
