What the Wii U has been most successful at is fluctuating internet traffic. If Wii U is any testament to the eighth gen, I'd rather stick with my PS3
Agree with all, except for the last point. The PS2 still being on the shelves after the PS3's release kept Sony from losing a butt load of money with the PS3

That really sucks for Wii U owners. At the moment it doesn't seem to me like Nintendo will be on top again next-gen. The Wii had a much greater backing this gen because it was something fresh and every last developer wanted to experiment with the console and the motion controls. I feel sorry for Wii U owners, but I'm hoping Nintendo will give them their money's worth shortly
By that logic, they're competing for the time I go out with my friends, drive around in my car, go to work, do shopping, watch a movie. 3DS is an on the go system. PS3 is a home console. While the time allocated to either might intertwine from time to time, for the most part they are very different in terms of when they are used.
Coming out on "all top-of-the-line" consoles - I'd say that confirms Wii U is out.
Remember that the PS3 released a year later than the 360. I think that when it reaches the current lifespan of the 360 it will have sold nearly 90 million units
If these numbers are accurate, PS3 is dominating the 360 in sales of nearly every multi-platform title they share
