Agreed. I reckon Ubisoft will have a good showing this year, although the lack of Beyond Good and Evil 2, and their constant leaks, are disappointing.
I think every major company, even EA, have the opportunity to surprise us. This is E3 baby!
Did it get officially cancelled?
Hehe! Set phasers to maximum hype! :-)
I suppose that depends on how you define the competition. I think Nintendo are still a big enough player to warrant the comparison. Still, Sony not being there does give MS a nice piece of the pie.
Deep down I still think PlayStation might drop some huge release date news for TLOU: Part 2 and / or Ghost of Tsushima in an attempt to steal their thunder.
I'd argue that critical reviews do contribute to a games overall perception, and this has traditionally (in numerous cases) been enough to either positively or negatively affect the metrics that determine a products success.
Days Gone seems to defy this logic. Hence why i wrote this piece. It totally fascinated me!
I think this is a really good point, and opens up a huge can of worms re: when reviewers should play games.
I'd argue that for other games, bad reviews have been enough to tank their profitability and ruin their general perception. Days Gone has proved that despite this well established theory, the clips and positive sentiment on social media has been enough to turn it into a massive sales success. I present this viewpoint in the article. Not hyperbolic or ignorant. Just presenting an idea.
I wrote this article because i wanted to, and it's something i've been thinking about since launch. Not because i was looking for clicks. The vocal response here on n4g was way more than i ever could have expected. I'm just glad it is generating an interesting conversation.
I don't understand the premise of your point. Do you not like the writing? The topic of the article itself? Or are you just dismissing both because you personally have seen enough simila...
This is the exact kind of cutting satire that makes me want to publish stuff on n4g ;-)
You've literally just described my exact experience with this game. Terrifying and unpredictable, haha! You're right though. The best parts are the non scripted systems, interacting. I really don't understand why it has received so much hate!
Yeah it's fascinating isn't it? I suppose there is an argument to be made that platform exclusives carry a greater sense of expectation and hype than a third party release, but that seems massively unfair!
World War Z is a cracking co-op game! Yes the servers were a tad wonky at launch, but it's from a relatively small team who suddenly found themselves with a massive hit on their hands.
Yeah it seems like there's a massive disconnect between critics and the general public. Not the first time that's happened! And almost certainly won't be the last.
It has so much potential. Give us the holodeck from Star Trek!
I'm happy to be proven wrong, but I do think Valve's rumoured fourth headset is a step too far. As I've said above, I own PSVR (since launch) and love that thing. I'd just rather Valve focus their efforts on software!
Ooooo dude. VR is definitely NOT pointless. I have PSVR and love it. I just think a FOURTH mainstream VR headset is a tad... excessive.
Yeah the lack of communication is a tad frustrating. Perhaps just growing pains as a result of their updated stance on cross play?
I wonder if that's a safeguarding policy issue? Making sure that child accounts can't interact with adult accounts from different console networks?
I think this year we're going to see a lot of exclusives. Even just logo teases for stuff from some of their newly acquired studios.
