Hey man! No apologies needed. You're absolutely entitled to disagree, and I didn't think you raged in the slightest. So all good.
It's a tricky one because I think for fans of the original, the opportunity to play it on modern platforms will be all they need, and absolutely enough for them. And that's great! I feel the same way about Banjo Kazooie on Xbox One; it's a treat to be able to revisit classics from your own gaming past.
My ta...
I'm glad you're having a good time with it! It just wasn't for me. I don't think the mechanics have aged well, and I found myself frustrated by a lot of repetition.
Respawn definitely threw an interesting wrinkle into the meta with the addition of Crypto.
Oh. I thought we were just copy and pasting stuff.
I reckon it will inevitably be a PS5 standalone release. I still play Factions every week!
This is a really interesting take. Definitely food for thought!
Yes absolutely! Those are exactly the kind of generational leaps forward I'd want from new hardware.
Great question! For me (and i know this is subjective) it's about leveraging advancing tech, to do things that couldn't be done before, from a mechanical and interactive standpoint. It's not about poly count and frame rate; the chase for realism has never been alluring to me as a consumer.
When i tunneled between multiplayer bases in Red Faction, or saw Ellie chuck a brick at a flanking enemy in The Last of Us because i ran out of ammo, those moments had more i...
I know, right? An opinion about conversation and perception? One of THOSE articles, stating an opinion. Blasphemy!
I'm talking about the messaging and conversation surrounding next gen, NOT the developer pipeline. Before calling my article f**king stupid, consider debating my actual point.
This "stuff" you're referring to is simply my opinion. The conversation around next gen seems dominated by teraflops and technical specs. As i mention, I'd rather the new tech be leveraged to show us more advanced AI characters and destructibility, not just prettier things.
You can disagree with my perspective without needing to be patronising.
My point is about the conversation surrounding next gen development, not the tech itself. Everyone seems to fixate on resolution, frame rate etc... which to me are superfluous niceties when compared to the boundary pushing elements that will lead to genuine creative expression.
How is this... news? Jesus.
It desperately requires performance polish, and a better suite of PC focused features. But there's definitely something here!
While I think it desperately needs optimising for console, it is not being "shredded" universally. I think there's enormous potential here, as I point out in the article.
If you dislike something, that doesn't make you entitled or a crybaby? What a bizarre take.
Absolutely. It feels like a throwback in the worst possible way.
@sampsonon - good lord. really? I don't understand this attitude towards FACTS. Such pointless drivel. Nice to see you call out their vile attitudes!
It should absolutely be a standalone release, and free to play. Modern Warfare / Warzone was the right play by Activision, and it would make sense for DICE to follow suit.
No it's not?
Yeah I struggled with these too! With the vertical takedowns, range is key. So long as there's a clear line of sight to the target, no objects blocking that route (as in an open floor), and you're running when you jump, you should do the cliff dive kill.
As for the backwards dive, point the control stick backwards without turning the camera, hold run, and then press and hold Circle (which is crouch / go prone by default). That should do it!
