By itself, PC is better than owning any one console. Cheaper in the long run and more bang for your buck.
Though a combination of the two, PC and a console, lets say PS4 for example, is the best option if you have the cash to support gaming on two platforms
thats probably whats going to happen, but thats kind of a lame third announcement
first announcement cool, second announcement cool, third announcement ehhh..
Next gen consoles struggling to maintain 60 fps and they aren't even released yet
what a great start to the next generation
@paul
'...just to knock all you high-and-mighty PC gamers down a peg or two'
Everything I said was factual, don't be so butthurt about it. Graphics are a factor of immersion, and PC will have best graphics
'...us console gamers will be enjoying the newest games on next-gen hardware'
hardware that is already half a decade behind PC
'...whilst you guys are playing a last gen game with po...
was it not enough that it sold a billion in a week? are they really going to nickel and dime people like this? Jesus
How I increase immersion: get it for PC when it comes
Graphics are a major component of immersion
Ontop of that, throw in a couple pedestrian density and traffic density mods and boom your city now looks and feels more real than ever before
I hope they do a spiritual sequel to spec ops the line with stuff like child soldiers and the blurring of line between insurgents and civilians
pc is about freedom of input method. Controllers are good for some things, m/kboard is good for some things. Console is about restriction of input method
'With consoles - you only pay for the machine itself and you have it forever'
I think this isn't really the case. Hardware failure, the desire to upgrade to newer models or slimer models with higher memory capacity, and the price of online play pretty much equalizes the cost of maintaining a console. I owned a console, and I can guaran-damn-TEE any doubters that all of my friends went through at least one console where they spent money to get it fixed or replaced,...
Guys, its 2013.
If these supposedly 'next gen' consoles cannot consistently and reliable output games at 60 fps and 1080p native standards, then that is f%$king pathetic. PCs have been doing this for nearly a decade and a half.
Little by little news leaks out that a game is actually going at 30 fps in single player or the multiplayer is actually 900p native...they shouldn't even have to be making these sacrifices at all.
The fac...
'Microtransactions done right isn't a bad thing'
How the hell is real money for in-game cash and guns cut from the game not a bad thing
They did good with gay tony and TLAD but this right here? this is some ole bull$%*t
This sounds really cool. I look forward to trying it out
@aLiEnViSiToR
Hey now...lets be careful with the 'big' jokes here, we might be on the verge of half life 3 announcement and we don't want to upset gabe
its kinda pointless to compare the cost of a gaming PC to a console.
A gaming PC can do much, much more than a console, and consoles are also sold at a loss. You aren't dropping down 700 bucks for a piece of hardware that just plays games, you are getting something that browses internet, is able to be upgraded, able to launch computer programs on, everything a console pretty much can't. I mean you can technically browse internet on a console, but its janky as hell and...
Graphics for deep down are not nearly as impressive when you consider the fact that the game only has to render a teeny tiny dungeon corridor at any given time, and not a wide open environment
And man does that combat look clumsy
Hold on AfterThought, no need to attack
I didn't mean exclusively on the steambox, I meant launch title as in it launches alongside the steambox
Or maybe they're gonna have HL3 as a launch title for steambox...one can hope
@Ant
I can already visit piratebay and see how many people pirated the console version
Hint: Its a lot. So don't act so damn high and mighty like piracy doesn't exist on consoles
And you still haven't given valid reasons why all those other popular, AAA, big budget multiplatform games release on the PC at the same time other than an uninformed and ignorant opinion
Also, GTA 5 just hit a billion recently. Its sell...
I don't know if I want valve doing this or just concentrate on making good games
They're certainly big enough for this to be a possibility, I suppose. And I'm not just talking about gabens mass
Its kind of shocking that there are gamers who think like this, that mods are somehow a detriment to the game
I don't know if you realize this, but not all mods turn you into iron man and turn your car into the batmobile or give you pretty pink weapon skins. There are mods that enhance gameplay features, graphics, or add weapons, skins, clothing, and easily match the artstyle of the vanilla game. Heck, when it comes out for PC I'll probably download the mod that incre...
Lol some of the best games of all time are on PC, and some of the best developers too.
And if you think all that PC gaming offers is 'higher quality looking games' for 'triple the price' then you are sorely mistaken, or bought a pre-built computer or some other foolish act
