Story doesn't matter. At least not for multiplayer focused games. When was the last time a cod or bf game had a good story? Oh that's right, never. Yet they consistently get 8's and 9's. The media are tools in every medium, especially gaming.

It's ridiculous because if you look at those same sites they give higher scores to clearly worse games, or games with the same issues. Gamespot, like many other sites, gave COD:Ghosts an 8..... that game is a 6 at best and Destiny is leaps and bounds above that rubbish. That's how I look at these sites. They are reviewing Destiny on an unfair scale that they don't use on any other game. Sorry but a game with literally no story and is only multiplayer with no depth or customization...
Do I think it CAN? No, not at this point with the raging dis-train that is the internet. Do I think it SHOULD? Absolutely. For one the game is amazing and overall fun as hell. Secondly, this has been a pretty lackluster year for gaming, so far. We'll see what the fall/winter brings but to me it's a landslide.
that's the main reason these reviews have pissed me off so much is the focus is on the story/single player elements. WTF? The story was last on my list of things I was excited about. Destiny has been an amazing experience and fulfilled all my expectations. Haters gonna hate.
Exactly. If I got to these game sites and look at the games that have better reviews, it's clear it has little to do with the actual game. Don't let the haters take away from the insane fun factor of Destiny.

@Pontiac shooting mechanics aren't tight? That's literally the one thing everyone has agreed on, that the mechanics are extremely tight and buttery smooth. There's only 2 maps right now that have vehicles and they only stay in them if the other team sucks and can't get them out. From everything they showed before the release and from my time with the game (lvl 20) its clear that MP was a huge focus and they will continue to update and improve it. There's 2 more modes comin...
gameplay is very poor? wtf? There isn't a game out that has better gameplay than this. If you don't like pvp that's fine but for most it's amazing. For most on comment boards it's the worst game ever lol. Trolls be trollin.

but using unfair judgement on the game is getting tired too. If a game doesn't get criticized for one thing, then another game shouldn't get criticized for that same thing. So the "you could say that about all games" is a very valid argument. Judge games by the same standards.....

gameplay is top notch, controls are tight and the amount of stuff you can do is amazing. Add to that the incredible amount of loot you can go for and it is far from just another FPS.
that's because people on the internet do not represent ANYONE. They find ways they can hate and bring down what's popular. They jump on "hyped" games and go crazy over the most minute details that no one ever cares about in any other games. From browsing game sites and comments you'd think that Watch-Dogs, Titanfall and Destiny are the worst games this year. They are in fact some of the best this year and are in their own right great games, just not what these people bui...
