You know what the sad part is? I may be wrong about this obviously but last gen I never saw a single article on the internet, not one, saying that frame rates and resolution didn't matter. None. Every single article I saw was concerning this topic was basically asking why should you spend more money on a ps3 when you were getting better performance on the 360.
The internet was littered with articles like these from some of the very same journalis...

You cannot close the distance between hardware specs. One machine will ALWAYS be able to outperform the other. No amount of 10%gpu, 5%cpu, directx, hidden triple core cpu super overdrive hardware esram tricks is ever going to change that.

Your point is invaild. Mario Kart is an extremely popular franchise, TLOU was a new ip. New ip's rarely ever move consoles on a large scale. You need to compare mk8 to uncharted, GT or GOW, those games sell systems and lots of them.
Mk8 selling systems has absolutely nothing to to with mario being identified as a mascot, it has to do with the fact that the game is a hell of a lot of fun and is a very popular franchise.

This guy wrote an entire article basically saying that the ps4 and xone should have copied the wiiu in having no games for the next two years, struggle to sell systems, make games that don't sell systems, isolate third party devs only to turn around and beg them for games when they realize no one is buying the systems and cause their fanbase to move to competing platforms.
Somehow or the other, in his fantasy land, those were great decisions by nintendo. This guy suffers...

So apart from mk8 which games are selling on the wiiU? Bearing in mind it took the wiiu 2 years to actually get a game that caused it to start selling apart from the initial launch boost.

You're blind, you're not seeing the bigger picture. We've all been duped by the likes of samsung, lg, panasonic, sony, JVC and all the rest. For years they have been pushing us to upgrade our tv's, DVD's and bluray players knowing fully well that we could have gotten the same graphical quality of tranformers 3 on a 1990 27" tube tv.
