Origin is ok. I just used it for battlefield at first, but I also got a bunch of free bioware games from origin. (no subscription required). They have fast download speeds.
AMD is supporting vulkan too. Vulkan is based off source code of amd's mantle api.

Why do think dx12 is the standard api for gaming? Maybe in the future it will be but there aren't many games using it right now.

All of the dark souls games have the multiplayer mixed with the singleplayer game. even if there was an easy mode, they will be getting invaded by players which usually are more difficult than the ai enemies. So should they put extra easy servers for these people? Make a separate set of easy trophies too? What about loot in the game? Should the easy mode player get the same loot from a nerfed enemy? The souls series of games have been successful and a big part of that is because it does not h...
I think most pc gamers play at 1080p or 1440p, because you need serious hardware to game at 4k. Pc games do sell well though.

Steam is microsoft's competition on pc. They will not fuse with xbox.
The main problem would be cost i think. If a gpu costs $300, than an equal microsoft proprietary gpu would probably cost more. Xbox games probably won't get as much optimization since there will be different hardware. If you are willing to do that than why not just get a pc which will cost less and be able to do more. Xbox one controllers will work on it and it seems like most xbox games will be on pc, plus you have access to the huge library of pc games.
I think the xbox gpu costs less than $150. It's an entry level gpu.

something like that (768 stream processors) only costs $100 and it includes the memory and heatsink+fan
@hvd222
$150-200 would not be a very good upgrade. Maybe like $300-400, but that's the price of a console.
"You guys don't want MSFT to monopolize the industry in state of the art tech and dev mindshare, causing PS4 to be left behind. I would be scared too. I doubt MSFT will lock Play Station out of the future. Don't worry."
Do you seriously think that would be a good thing? Keep in mind microsoft is not very popular among pc gamers(on windows).

They are keeping their games on windows store so they will be competing with steam, origin, etc. Hopefully they learned from GFWL failure and won't be so restrictive with their DRM. Steam DRM is the most popular because it doesn't have annoying restrictions and is generally player-friendly.
PC with proprietary parts? Like apple computers? If you are willing to switch parts out why not just get a pc and use the xbox service? This will be better since part vendors have to compete on prices.
You probably shouldn't be updating your drivers that much. Depending on your hardware, find drivers that work and don't update unless you need to. Too much changing of drivers can cause problems. Use a driver uninstaller to remove any leftover files(use in safe mode) Also you can try updating your directx and vc++ library.(microsoft.com/downloa d) I don't know about razer's game boosting tool but i would probably just stick to using their drivers if you are using a razer mouse...
The problem with xbox live on pc is they don't have enough of their own games. For example, if a xbox user wants to play battlefield online they need xbox live. But on pc if you want to play battlefield, you need origin. (even their "exclusive" titanfall plays on origin) Also the xbox marketplace can't compete on digital distribution on pc. So they have forza, halo, and gears, which could bring some gamers over but most probably won't pay a subscription to play those gam...
Gamescom is open to the public. All you have to do is buy a ticket. E3 is not open to the public, so it's not quite the same. I would think gamers attending gamescom would rather try playing the games than watch a conference.
I've beat the game multiple times, watched advent children, and even played dirge of cerberus. FF7 is my favorite of the series, but I wouldn't be upset if they changed the combat. I think someone from Square said that if they remade ff7 they would want to make it like advent children, so probably combat like ff15? I liked fighting sephiroth in kingdom hearts and the scene when cloud fights sephiroth in advent children was pretty cool. I think if done right it could be awesome. That k...
I am using 14.8 i think. The omega driver had lower performance for me.
Most mobile phones use android or ios. Will they be using dx12? I don't think they use direct x.
Bigpappy
If what you say about gpu's being the bottleneck is true, than what use will this be for x1, that has weak gpu(compared to a modern pc) and slow ram. It won't matter how many draw calls dx12 makes because the xbox gpu will be the bottleneck.
I don't think they get royalties for games on PC. The only games they would get money for would be first party or published by them. Live isn't exactly popular on PC either. If people didn't have to buy an xbox for HALO than I think xbox sales would suffer. That would mean less live subs and less royalties from 3rd party games.
@ Outthink_The_Room
"There is a reason, that at the DX12 conference the guys from Nvidia, AMD, Intel and Qualcomm were all there."
They make hardware that will be using dx12 on pc and cell phones. It's not like nvidia was there to talk about how great dx12 will be on xbox. Multithreading isn't exclusive to dx12 so why would they need a wrapper to code to the medal?
I don't think dx11 was so bad that games are sub par on...
Steam is software you can run on any pc. It's a digital store/drm for games. Microsoft already has their store/drm that competes with steam, but most pc gamers prefer steam to windows store. (if you think ps4 is beating xbox one badly, it's nothing compared to steam vs gfwl.)
