when the PS3 came out they had both the gamers and Videophiles buying this. Gamers wanted it cause it was a PS3 and happened to get a blu ray player with it, and Videophiles wanted it cause it was the cheapest option for a blu ray player and happened to be the best player out.

your TV must support Full RGB or it wont matter. for instance the sony kds A3000 has a setting for each HDMI input to allow it to diplay RGB full correctly.

unless microsoft finds an amazing compression technology that allows movies to be downloaded in less then 5 minutes, with no visable compression artifacts when watching and uncompressed 7.1 surround sound. digital distribution is never gonna go farther then xbox live and i tunes. the visible and audo difference between dvd and something like blu ray or hd dvd is mind blowing ( and if u cant see a diffrerence then u should just go back to watchign a black and white tube TV ) unles...
NO broadcaster in the world broadcast at 1080P. in the US its either 720P or 1080I. u can still use 1080P sets with blu ray and HD DVD,
