if your hard drive fails you basically risk losing your entire movie collection with digital downloads.
i never illegally downloaded a movie, not becuase its illegal but cause i dont want to go through the time and hassle to do it and they will never look and sound anywhere near as good as an hd movie on a blu ray disc. . plus blu ray disks are really hard to scratch , thier not like dvd, they will last a hell of a lot longer then some hard drives which can fail and you lose EVERYTHING.
not only will older poeple not want to go through the hassle of dowloads, the technology isnt there yet. its gonna be a while until we can get a digital down load with adio and video on par with blu ray disces and have them small enough to keep alot on a hard drive and have them download in less then 5 minute.
yeah i saw this in the upcoming game sof 2008 in the last gamepro and it looked like it could be as scary as playign as the Marines in ALiens vs predator 2 game.
ok think of it like this. the most expensive hd dvd player is $399, which is the only one that does 1080p at 24 . so why the hell would anyone buy an hd dvd player for $399 ( a dieing format) when they can get a 40bg PS3 for the same price? the only reason they would buy the hd dvd player is casue they are un informed of the full capabilities of the PS3. any smart consumer would buy the PS3 even if they never played one game on it.
what does a stand alone hd dvd player do for u if u cant get most of the moives that arrent an hd player? all that matter is disc sales, THATS IT!!!!. paramount and universal can give a crap about toshiba selling hardware if peopel wont buy there movies. paramount will see warner outsellign them week after week in disc sales and start to wonder why the hell they arent moving to blu ray to get those disc sales also.
i beileve the only reason toshiba is holding on to hd dvd is becuae they have contract with universal and paramount to honor. THey paid paramount to coem over and im sure they paid universal to stay. if toshiba drops out now, after prolly convincing those companies that hd dvd is the way to go , they would just look really bad. once th e contracts coem to an end u will see hd dvd start to fizzle out. its gonan start with universal in february, watch.
downloads are not the future anytime soon. there are still a ton of peopel still on dial up and with companies liek timewarner startign a "pay by download" type system no body is gonna want to download a large HD movie. and unless seagate finds out how to make a hard drive that will never fail, physical media is here to stay for a long time.
just cause microsoft released on ADD on hd dvd player ( which barely sold) doesnt mean the gam eindustry is supporting hd dvd. if anythign the gameign industry has already chose the winner with blu ray.
its free, shut your face.
peopel that are buying these cheap players obviosly dont know whast goin on int eh farmat war and are not beign educated by the sales people. there gonna be pisses coem may when mor ehten half the movies they wont they cant get on hd dvd.
by denying there claims that they will move to blu ray is just stalling so thier lawyers can figure out the best way out of thier contract with HD -dvd. thats all that is happening with these denials.
if they do this plan i am moving to a FIOS connection as soon as its available in san francisco. they are gonan lose a HUGE amoutn of customers. They only reason they are doing this cause cable internet is hitting its ceiling of performance, its all about FIOS.
this will allow me to get rid of my huge ass comcast cable box. i hope this come to the USA and they make a deal with comcast.
this is NOT and new apple TV. its the same hardware but new software ( if u have the old apple tv you will still get the new software for free) also the sd content is 720x486 its only 640x 480. also the HD content is only 720p. with that said, it is super simple to use and is really fast. i think its soemthing great that will render blockbuster and netflicks obsolete but i would would still rather BUY my HD movies at full 1080p. i think i migth get it just to rent movies ...
your TV supports RGB Full. not all TVs do.
this didnt work for them before this wont work for them now, especially now.
shananaaana ..shananaaana .. hey .. hey .. hey........
gimme a break this is the same kinda comment warner made "we are staying nuetral" yeah right. this is just the corprate response. Paramount is moving over in teh next few months guarunteed. especially sicne they arent announcing any new titles at CES.
..., yes, soem fun is loss while playing a game casue of not havign the accracy of a KB and mouse. take unreal 3 for instance on teh PS3 , i love the game yet i become very frustrated while tryign to play it with the controller. infact any FPS isfrustrating for a pc gamer with that damn controller. im gonna have to try unreals 3 kb/mouse support.
