CoD4 was incredible and defined FPS's for the entire second half of this generation. I personally think it was more influential than U2, but as is this article, it's all a matter of opinion.

In my opinion, it's not the release date that made the PS3 not as successful as they had hoped, it's the speed at which devs picked up the technology. I think if they focus on making it easy for the devs, then they can come back easily next gen.
