I blame the lack of success of this game on the waning popularity of Sackboy.

...I'm afraid, though, that it might fall subject to the Quake Effect. No one cares about that series anymore. Maybe because it hasn't offered anything that's new. Halo, although it's a great series, hasn't really offered much newness to the franchise.
Hopefully their integration of phones, online gamine, and the 360 will add freshness to the series.
