I don't know what you mean by "other games", but if you mean games that just have a quick port over to the headset with no thought as to how it actually works with VR, I 100% disagree!
We need games (and other VR experiences) that take into account how VR works, and gives you an immersive experience WITHOUT inducing motion sickness, or having other issues that interrupt the sense of presence! More (software) is not necessarily better in this case. Worse, poorl...
At this point...who would believe them?
Basic problem with Betas...put out a Beta, now you have everyone bitching whining and complaining that it's "not good enough", "There is no variety", "level cap is too low" on and on and on and on and on!
First, the whiners here need to tone down the self-entitlement a notch (or three!).
Second, for all the griping, whining and bitching going on...just wait, this is still going to be the biggest game of the year...and the sal...
I spent some time watching the GDC presentation that Sony gave earlier this year...and it was QUITE enlightening! There are some very unique challenges that VR developers have to wrestle with...things that you wouldn't think were a big deal have huge effects in VR...like what happens when you put your arm through a virtual wall...or how certain graphics are perceived. This is a whole new ball game...and I am VERY glad there are those, like Thotwise, who are taking on the challenge prope...
What constitutes a "system seller"? When a gamer purchases a SYSTEM to play a specific game. It's not rocket science man...it's 2nd grade English.
I agree. MANY people are going to want to play this game, and for some of them, this game will push them over the edge to buy one.
Will it sell as many consoles for Sony as Destiny will? No, I think Destiny is going to move more hardware...but this game WILL sell some consoles...just watch!
Meh, I will wait to see how the game REALLY looks when someone posts video from the PS4.
I hope early access, alpha and beta releases being used to promote sales dies a horrible death!
While I enjoyed the Destiny Alpha and Beta...the whole concept of early access to pre-order customers just sits wrong with me.
A game should be its own reward! You shouldn't have to bribe your customers to get pre-orders...hell, the whole IDEA of pre-ordering games is wrong in the first place!
Tell you what...make a good game and I will buy it...
I agree with Mr. Okamoto. Too many articles about "Why the PS4 is failing in Japan" are written by people who don't live there, don't speak the language, don't understand the market, and who are basically just talking to hear themselves speak!
Everyone, of course, is entitled to their own opinion...but to write a story where these guys are pretending to be the "experts" on the matter is going a bit far.
Can not WAIT to play this! Only one more day to wait!
You seem to be under the mistaken impression that Microsoft's "competition" is good for gamers and that the industry somehow "needs" them to keep Sony in check.
You do remember, don't you, that the video game industry thrived just fine before MS entered the console market, and it will survive just fine when they leave.
I AM happy that MS is struggling to make inroads with their underpowered, overpriced console. They DESERVE fail...
I agree 100% with this article! I remember, not too long ago, when games weren't "AAA" or "indie"...they were just GAMES!
You look at the quality of these "indie" games...these were titles that we would have paid $50-$60 for just a few years ago! (in some cases, we did just that!)
For people (typically Xbox supporters) to argue that "indie" games are "junk" or "garbage" is just plain stupid. M...
Exclusivity deals (particularly with the NFL) have never benefitted anyone but the NFL and those who buy the exclusivity.
We would HAPPILY be playing NFL 2K14 today if it weren't for the NFL giving EA a monopoly on Football...and we would be playing it for $20-$30...and wouldn't have our Football games infested with DLC and free-to-play mechanics!
YES! EA is most definitely ruining video games!
They are going to be a lot of very surprised fanboys when this thing sinks like a brick in that country!
Where to start? Well, lets start with your list of "exclusives". I am not interested in a SINGLE one of the launch games that came out for the XB1. Yes, Sony had a weak launch lineup too...but touting Ryse as a great example? Wow. Thats a reach. Personally, i will add that I thoroughly enjoyed Infamous: Second Son. I thought it was a great game for the money...and I am looking forward to "First Light" this fall as well. Different strokes, man.
So y...
Primarily its because Sony offers a better product and doesn't try to push it...it pretty much sells itself. Microsoft, however, from DAY ONE, has been acting like a snake oil salesman...and they PERSIST on trying to convince everyone that their box is better, when it clearly is not. You keep hearing how resolution doesn't matter... When it clearly does! You keep hearing how it's "all about the games", when they have HALF the number of games! You keep hearing about k...
Don't forget sunset overhype! ;)
Wow...that brings back some memories!
Agreed! If they could make a peripheral with an LCD screen in the scope, replicating the arcade experience, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I am really not interested in the game if it doesn't have this. I would pay up to $150-$200 for the game plus the gun...
Otherwise known as the "8-Bit" Dark Souls...
The question that no one is asking that is central to the issue is "What does Sony gain by cutting the price?". Do they increase sales? Do those increased sales make up for the losses they will incur with such a cut? Does taking a loss on the hardware now mean that they can eliminate a competitor from the market (leading to higher sales in the future)?
Right now, it makes ZERO sense for Sony to have a price cut. IF MS or Nintendo suddenly became competitive, t...
