What do you get when you cross Full Metal Jacket & Saving Private Ryan?
This trailer.
Heavy Rain is closer, but it is not nonlinear. Each characters story starts at the same place every time you play it and there are only so many paths you can take to get through the story. For example, I don't think you can get the junkie FBI agent to hook up with the reporter and run off to vegas. Or maybe get the dad to commit suicide. That is why it is not a nonlinear game.
You have no idea what nonlinear means, do you? Just because you have some choice, doesn't mean it is nonlinear. And Mass effect is a horrible example of nonlinear narrative. You start at Point A and you must complete points B,C,D,E,F to get to G. Just because you can alter the order a tiny bit does not make it nonlinear. Truely nonlinear games are impossible because the designers will always be directing the game no matter how subtle it is.
Wow, give this guy a gold atar for stating the obvious. There will always be an element of linearity in games because they are essentially interactive stories and every story must start somewhere and end somewhere. To complain about this is to complain about the basic nature of storytelling in games.
But then you would miss the award-winning acting and the epic stories about delivery boys and women who have huge houses but can't afford clothes or pizza.
How far will this go? People misinterpreting other people's misunderdstandings.
This sense of entitlement is not just present in PS3 fanboys or 360 fanboys or PC fanboys or gamers; everyone now has a sense of entitlement. Everyone acts like the world owes them something, not just fanboys and gamers. Personally, I blame politicians for promising everything to people because they have a "right" to it. As far as I'm concerned, everyone has the right to fvck off. And I also blame parents for not beating the stupid out of their kids.
You forgot, "I'm going to kick you to sleep."
The problem with 1 is that it is essentially just paraphrasing Fallout. "War never changes" is a direct quote from Fallout.
Except Haze wasn't supposed to be exclusive. Haze was coming out on the 360, and PC I think, but it was such dogshit that they never finished bringing it over. So Haze doesn't count in the way you're trying to make it seem like it was a PS3 exclusive from the start.
It won't be with people running around as a big daddy.
How is it original?
Exactly. What's even more worrisome is the fact that it's taking 3-4 other studios to do the multiplayer.
Might as well call it COD: Atlantis Warfare. This looks horrible and I don't mean graphics-wise.
Everyone seems to be forgetting you can use DL games on regular PSPs. That is probably why they are the same. Or it could be Sony caving into pressure from retail. Or it could all be bullshit. But I think it's because of the old PSPs and the fact that they can DL games and play them and if the DL versions were cheaper, Sony would lose money on the manufacturing costs of the UMDs, manuals, cases, etc.
THis article overlooks the biggest issue of why it sucks to game on a PC: Convenience. Yeah, you can build a gaming rig. However, most people don't buy a PC just to play games. They use it to go online, for school and work, etc. There is no guarantee that if you buy a PC game that it will actually work the way it is supposed to. With consoles, the games are guaranteed to work unless there is a problem with the disc or if the console malfunctions.
EDIT: I'm not saying one is better...
Especially since previous Ratchet titles have had multiplayer; also, one of the biggest complaints about TOD was a lack of multiplayer.
Why would PS3 owners be bashing MW2? Maybe it's 360 owners because they only have 3 games this holiday?
Nice.
