This is for all those saying PS3 has a WEAK GPU... SUCK IT

Was that neccassary? No, and if you had completely read the article instead of jumping to fanboydom you would have clearly read

"Naughty Dog was able to utilize the power of the Cell processor more than ever before, which allowed them to focus the graphics chip to certain aspects of the game."

and thats the point when everyone says that the nvidia gpu in the ps3 is we...

SORRY BUT NO, M$ shouldn't give up what the slanted author of this thing fails to mention is that the original xbox sold only 470,000 units in it's 4 yr life in japan. So a 240% increase in sales in BUSINESS is a positive. Now imagine if there next console sells 240% better than the life time sales of the X360 in 4yrs thats over 2.5 million and that my dear fanboyz is what MS is looking forward to.

I don't know where some of you learned to do math but a 246% increase in sales isn't a little improvement its a lot in any business. Which obviously didn't backfire. There supposed strategy shift to natal is a reaction to the japanese developers being excited about it. When a great japanese developer such as hideo who clearly prefers to develop for Sony looks at your natal and says I can do things with this that can't be done anywhere else it means 3 things;

1. We haven't se...

The 360 is not maxed out developers are have been saying it since E3. The 360 was designed 5yrs ago to go the distance. Meaning it was designed to be able to get a game up a and running on it easily in a universal platform. But it was also designed to have a store of power for later .So hear is a list of facts that are commonly know put together in one place to be thought about.

1. The 360 gpu was designed with elements of directx9,10,&11
2. When first released the...

Pixel sword you get mad respect. But I am a tech nut probably a lot like your brother. The alchohol thing is temperary at best the contacts will continue to oxidize. It wasn't just a poor aperture on the ps2 drives, when placed vertically the laser ribbon would physically rub against the disc creating a disc burn. And of couse it also had terrible aperture. I felt this was relavant only because I'm soo sick of the rrod articles and maybe it can put it in perspective for those younger ...

Look ATY and all other sony fanboys I owned a ps2 and ps3 love the games but the ps2 hardware was crap they lied and lied and denied that they had a defect problem. Mean while everybody I knew had the dre problem and ended up buying another ps2, H$%^l the ps1 had the heat vent on the bottom and I'd have to turn it upside down because it would overheat. Msoft is not the mother of all bad design choices. MY point is and will always be that they ALL fail its what the company does about it th...

You're right ps2 was last gen doesn't mean it didn't happen I lived through owning 3 of them and none are working now. Waiting on sony to enable software BC on the ps3 before I buy another one. But I challenge you to look up and find out what the ps2's real failure rate was. Also I work in a store where we sell game consoles and the x360 seems to have nipped it's problem in the butt we're seeing a lot less of them have problems than the launch batch. Interestingly enough we're seeing mor...

Listen ATY not to ruffle you're feathers but I tell no lies, don't need to, don't care enough to do it. Look it up. And since when did the number of consoles sold decide if a console is defective or not!? Your logic is flawed. Bye your reasoning, because M$oft has sold 32 million consoles worldwide people have been playing for 4 years non stop. Thats ridiculous, to think that. I can guarantee that out of that 140 million ps2's many people were repeat buyers for faulty consoles, because s...

I am a multi-console owner I've owned pretty much every console in the past 15 years and bought them all at launch. I really hate that the x360 is getting the rep that its the most defective console ever....its NOT. That doesn't mean that it doesn't have a high failure rate it DOES. Most defective ever NOT. My X360 failed on me after 3yrs, my genisis and snes I was forever blowing in those stupid carts and blowing in the cart slot to get them to work. My ps2 burned a ring around my tekke...

I have to ask are you blind or can you count.

. 100k is the max number 360 could have outsold the PS3 so the only fact I can see is that the cheapest console can't really outsell the most expensive

It doesn't matter whether the x360 outsold the ps3 by 20,000 or a 100,000 units the KEY word IS OUTSOLD WORLDWIDE.

That means no matterm how you spin it and no matter what the excuse(x360 has an excuse too ,nobody wants to by defective hardware), the s...

The problem here is that sony and msoft fans are arguing a moot point.
The x360 did outsell the ps3 by 100,000 units in a 3 month time period worldwide, thats a fact. Its 7,510,000 units ahead of the ps3 and currently that GAP is getting bigger worldwide, thats fact. At this rate 100,000 unit difference every 3 months is 400,000 units per year gap, the x360 will increase it's 7.51 million unit lead to almost 10 million units by the end of sony's 10 year cycle for the ps3, thats specu...

First of all Gamers have had one fear or another for almost every game system ever created. Example; nes & snes blowing on carts to get it to play, ps1 had to turn it upside down to prevent over heating cause air vents were on the bottom, ps2 had 3 first one scratched a ring on my disc 2nd disc read errors wouldn't read the blue disc, jaguar no support, saturn killed early, dreamcast killed early, n64 weak 3rd party support stupid cartriges costed 60 bucks back 13 yrs ago.

There are advantages to the directx api and disadvantages like the author says. What he doesn't talk about is that the x360 was launched when dx8 was promenent but that the xeon gpu has elements of dx9,10, and 11 such as hardware tasselation something the ps3 doesn't do on a hardware level. Nevertheless, msoft has announced the release of it's new debug/programming kits and developers have already stated that it will allow them to get more out of the x360. So all the peolpe that were sayi...

I find it interesting that this article mentions that folding @home is one of the programmes that greatly benefit form gpu programming, able to get 5-12 times the normal through put of a conventional cpu.

what I find even more interesting is that it was never adapted to run on the x360, considering that it has an advanced gpu and that there are 30 million out there, greatly exceeding the 23 million ps3's in use.

Is it a conpiracy to make the ps3 appear more power...

Look take a programming class or two. Both the ps3 and the X360 are powerful machines, both have weaknesses, in the end it's up to the programmers to exploit every last strength while minumizing the affects of any of any particular consoles weakness.

P.S. not matter how powerful the cell cpu is, it is paired with a waeker gpu and a segragated memory subsystem. This means that it doesn't matter how much of the physics or the animations are off loaded on the cell, it doesn't re...

First off do any of you recall how GG managed to get such great graphics out of the ps3 so early on with KZ2!!? Well they used defered rendering. Any of you here know what that does!? any of you here remember the roots of where it came from!? Let me help, there used to be a hardware company called SEGA that hired a little known company called powerVR to create there graphics chip in thier dreamcast console. The dreamcast had hardware level defered rendering, allowing it to use less resourc...

Dude are you trolling or what? Did you even look at the stuff to compare forza3 and gt5 maybe but to compare it to gt4 is just an insult and just means you're trolling.

Well there just upset that 3 days ago they could say hey look at gow3 look at gt5 pro, look at uncharted, etc.. and now al of a sudden what every x360 fan has been saying forever is beginig to show the truth if developers use custom buit engines and not ue3 then the x360 will show you some things and thats exactly what its doing showing us some things . Man forza loooks greaaaaaaaaat.....!!!!!

O.K. so those of you that don't know, it was for a living that I needed to know these things. First off component video, as well as real RGB, ARE capable of supporting 1080p and it is available and unlocked on both plasma and lcd tv's over 6 years old. I.E. before the DVI, and hdmi craze and there's nothing wrong with the picture either. The hdmi was pushed on manufacturers and touted as superior (it's not on runs shorter than 10ft), so that hollywood studios would support the new hd era wi...
