I think this whole gfx thing is flipped this time around... last time It was the ps3 catching flack early on, then proving itself later...I think this will happen with the xbox one as well
You're not that far off base depending on how much is spent on the gfx card, but this author of this article is off base. This just seems like click bate. The author tells us that these cards represent the the gdx card in the ps4 & xone but they don't. He never addresses the difference in the rop's, cu's or stream processors in the ps4 vs. this r7-265 card and that's a big deal. Then he never addresses the fact gfx cars are a completely separate piece of silicon no...
Sega just has too many good IP's to choose from but we'll never see these games from SEGA in it's current form too profit driven and not willing to take the risk. They need to be more like Take Two where willing to let good sequal driven IP's get the time they need to be made properly and still take risk on new IP
You're right they made compromises to get to 1080p/60fps and it shows...But I think this was because M$ was caught with there pants down... No one expected Sony to actually have 8gb of ram this is why before this was announced most developers were like the xbox was a good/eqaul because the ps4 wouldn't have had enough ram to produce the visuals that we now see...But Sony Pulled a M$ move and doubled the ram just like M$ did on the x360...I also believe that M$ was considering adding a...
Well since the start of all this Microsoft has increased the speed of the GPU to add 7% probably to mitigate the 10% they had withheld...then they increase the speed of the CPU to add another 10%... then reveal they are sending an update to give back 8% of the gpu which had been withheld...If you add all that together that's a 25% increase in power since the specks were announced...and that's good, but the PS4 is estimated to be about 50% more powerful so even though the gap has been ...
Yes Sega please make this happen...And for God's sake no motion controls of ANY kind...Just enhanced classic game play
The real difference between Microsoft's and Sony's cloud computing capabilities comes down to infrastructure, control, adaptability, and money.
Infrastructure- M$ has over 300,000 servers dedicated to it's cloud compute task, Sony has Gaikai, and has retained the services of Rack space.
Control- M$ owns it's server network and can do as it pleases i.e. put all or none of the resources toward gaming. Sony owns Gaikai, but the agreement with Ra...
I think PlayStation Now will be awesome and just like Blu ray was a Trojan horse I think PlayStation now is too...What I'm baffled about is how everybody is all excited about PlayStation now and still doubt M$ cloud power...aren't they essentially the same thing with the exception that the Xbox will be handling some things locally and the other stuff will be done in the cloud?
The article never said that the developers were getting what was reserved for kinect what it said was that there would be a driver update that would give a 10% boost at minimum....I feel like I'm playing telephone on hear...10% minimum boost meaning it could be more...tells you right there there that its not coming from what was reserved for kinect because that was a flat 10%
I actually like the list that
dantesparda put up but you for got a few things that may explain the differences....
32mb of esram that runs 17% more bandwidth/faster than gdd5
15 co-processors to assist in AI and Physics
means that the gpu/cpu can do other things
4 move processors designed to alleviate bandwidth bottlenecks between cpu and main memory
DDR3 has less "LATENCY" than gddr5
If we all go back to the original leaked rumors they said that the Xbox 720 was like having 2 pc's tapes together. Basically it had 2 cpu's and 2 gpu's....Now we get another so called leak. And it's all of a sudden less powerful. Well if you think about what was also included in the original rumors it said that Microsoft was developing 2 consoles side by side with one aimed at casual users and the other at hardcore...Heck who know's we could be getting both...the Original...
@ BitbyDeath ACTUALLY Sony was NOT an originator of DVD they were brought on later by the originators who are Philips and Toshiba so that they wouldn't release a competing format called DVD-1...Not only that but the roads are littered with failed Sony formats...Mini Disc, Beta Max, Micro dv, Super CD, ...etc...And I agree this article is just rumors but here one that I heard that makes sense...Microsoft was originally supposed to show of the X720 this month just before GDC but Sony pulled...
Ok people they won't need to emulate anything...What they will probably do is certify certain PC's XBOX 360 game compatible and only those will be able to run the hybrid software like they did Windows Media center PC's ...basically they will have the SOC (System On Chip) of the X360 in all these units this will add only about $75 to the unit then you get complete compatiblity.
Well we don't really know if this is whats happening...it has only been speculated about a 1 gb and security update by Digital Foundry's hacker source...What we do know is that it was reported that Microsoft needed beta testers for " A NEW DISC FORMAT" now I don't know about you but a file system update to me doesn't cut it as "A NEW DISC FORMAT" So we could still see some version of VMD or higher density DVD disc's...could be wrong but I'll wait f...
Yes it awesome...And I've done a little digging and found that there are 2 approaches Microsoft can take to get more on a dvd disc that will work with a firmware update on every x360 out there.
1. Take the Dreamcast approach and increase the density of data on the disc by packing the pits closer together alah... GD-Rom about a 40% increase to 12.5gb per disc...
2. Increase the number of layers on a DVD alah (VMD) which theoretically allows for up to 48gb...
I think that everyone is right to a point...
1. I think that Kojima will develop a dual NPD/PS3 game
2. I also think that a multiplatform MGS will be developed for both ps3 and x360, but Kojima will personally oversee the NPD/PS3 but Not the X360 version
3. The big 2 announcements will be that MGS goes multiplatform, and Sony will get Exclusive NPD cross over game and content.
I would love to see:
1. Agent
2. Splinter cell 2
3. Kingdoms
4. Uncharted 3
5. New Rare games(KI2, Kameo2,PDZ2...new IP)
6. New nintendo IP
7. Wii...3DS remakes imagine mario galaxy2 in tru 3D
8. Halo Wars2 (some of us loved it)
9. Lost Odyssey 2
10. Insomniac multiplat IP
P.S. Nintendo probably won't release 2 new hardwares in the same year...but if any company would dare do that it ...
OK for all of you folks using the sub-HD argument please read... I've worked with display tech for years and loved it longer than that... and although resolution plays a part in what you see on the screen and how good it looks your eyes see... height, width, contrast, and color all before resolution so a 10 to 20 % reduction in resolution doesn't hurt image quality as much as jaggies, screen tearing, lag, or other visual anomalies...especially during fast action scenes..."REAllY&...
Really"!!!!! Do you even know what stereoscopic 3D (with active shutter glasses $150) is or what it does.... Whats the difference between it and polarized 3D (passive glasses $3)...or why all the manufacturers jumped on the stereoscopic 3D wagon...stop drinking the Sony koolaid... 3D has been around for 100 years and stereoscopic 3D was a way to make the display device cheaper and put the cost of extra glasses on the consumer...it was simply an early adopter money grab theres nothing abo...
This whole PS4 > Xbox One argument is going to look rather silly a year from now and the longer this generation goes on. This is because we all do the same thing every time a new batch of consoles come out. We run out get the consoles and rush to compare whole systems based on a few bullet point numbers. Last generation we ran out and compared the PS3 to X360 that first year and declared the PS3 inferior to the X360 because the x360 had a better gfx chip and a good enough cpu that it di...
